Right next to two historic buildings that also nobody is allowed to use

Yeah that was going to be my question. I don’t follow Austin real estate close enough - and I feel like I’ve seen signs of an uptick in at least some sub-markets - but I was pretty shocked if this sort of price point can clear

Yeah in that case what’s the point of the studies. Just make this standard practice for all road construction projects going forward. Studies and input are for doing more

Do you think this is in part the result of the kinds of backlash we’re seeing to bigger changes (eg on Archer)? Or just an unambiguous alder?

I don’t even understand the “pro” argument. Do these companies pay fees that we’d lose otherwise?

I’m a novice but the size of the drop between 2000 and 2010 surprised me. Is that something structural like CHA sites closing, housing bubble, or did the renaissance of this area just start way later than I’d thought?

The thing I don’t get - is there any real life pushback here? I see it on bluesky but is this filtering through to elected officials? Nuts that we’re all pretending this is normal. Feels like the death of local media is part of the problem

It’s an interesting take. I’ll agree that at first for me it was the low expectations, but I’ve come acting to believe he’s generally quite good. The recent state police / ICE support being the exception that proves the rule. Has there been a better Illinois governor in your lifetime?

I mean Wellington is the obvious answer right

Needs a massive branding and support campaign. I think people *could* be really into this if they were able to truly understand the benefits simply and easily. A simple slogan / 2-3 talking points would go a long way
November 26, 2025 at 8:07 PM
Fair. But minimal in the scheme of things to your point

This should be a campaign by Better Streets Chicago. No cost, enormous benefits. But it needs advocacy

I’m not against DePaul developing land in Lincoln Park, but I’m a bit dismayed when there are parking lots there university owns and they are knocking down 100-year old apartment buildings. What is going into that Fullerton and Sheffield spot?
November 22, 2025 at 2:17 PM
No push at all to use the parking lot at Fullerton and Sheffield?
November 22, 2025 at 5:52 AM
Infuriating
November 22, 2025 at 12:05 AM
Not trying to be dismissive but that answer sounds eerily similar to the RLE justification. Are there real ridership benefits? I guess you’re think people coming from the South/Southwest and don’t want to go all the way downtown?
November 20, 2025 at 1:42 PM
Do you think there really is significant value connecting the Red/Green/Metra there? Feels low ridership potential vs other infill
November 20, 2025 at 5:17 AM
Maybe I can harness “think of the children” to counteract “government overreach” in the catchphrase standoff
November 20, 2025 at 2:57 AM
Oh word? I assumed something had gone through. I see these daily in Wicker Park and they make me livid. Our sidewalks are too narrow as it is, and I have two small kids riding their bikes who now have to navigate robot burrito taxis
November 20, 2025 at 2:56 AM
I do not understand how these were approved
November 20, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Again, come on man. You’re technically correct. But if our goal is to get the best candidate, do you think this is the way? It would mean folks spending thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours primarying a candidate they might really like in the chance that candidate quits last minute?
November 13, 2025 at 7:18 AM
Eh I mean technically sure. But not in the spirit of democracy. This is not the way you get the best representatives
