There is no escape - we pay for the violence of our ancestors.
Lowe’s outperforming Home Depot could mean the latter’s cooperation with ICE is starting to bite. Might be a re-evaluation of that approach coming soon.
Expectations lower post Depot, but Lowes reassuring. Relatively rare but $LOW out-comped $HD by 30bp & points to positive November comp despite storm hit. While guide lowered modestly, this seems largely expectations management/deal related $XLY $XLF

Finally a party I can believe in
the future of the democratic party is a coalition of the wokest people on tumblr and absolutely dead-eyed pursuers of the national interest and the maximization of GDP
funny that the two groups in the political class who have been the least enthusiastic about trump term 2 are like neocon blob guys and economists

@montanaskeptic.bsky.social in case you were looking for a concrete example of why people were upset by Bari Weiss - this kind of thing is it.
You're not gonna believe this but @cbsnews.com appears to not have a story about some of the largest mass protests in American history anywhere on its main page.

Quick, Ezra “Both Sides” Klein, we need some emergency punditry. Is it still Hillary Clinton’s fault? We need to know! @ezrakleinbot.bsky.social

Is Germany in 1933 not fascist? Not sure you’re making the case you think you are by arguing Trump and his coterie haven’t managed to do a totalitarianism yet
If we were living under fascism, none of you would be here daring to post things. You'd be erasing your social media accounts and keeping your head down; you'd know that peacocking your faux-bravery on a network would expose you to being disappeared.
You have no idea what "fascism" really means.
the regime is zip tying toddlers and ripping them away from their mothers unclothed... calling it fascism upsets this neo-con.

I think Klein comes off more so as being a character totally out of time, as opposed to just “bad”. When Mitt Romney embodies the Republican Party, Klein et al are fine enough, but for a decade now they have been completely useless at persuasion. More than anything I think Klein should just retire.
Whew. TNC is so patient. I don’t have that level of patience but I am glad he does. Ezra Klein comes off so…badly in that conversation. Yikes.

The stakes are much lower obviously, but this is an important point about trading stocks, or making career choices, or any number of things.
one thing that comes up in clausewitz is how in war the moral (by which he means character) and the intellectual are inseparable. your fears and hopes will drag your intellect around like a dog if you let them. to see clearly through the fog of war and all its phantasms requires moral courage.

@alsobrooks.senate.gov really need to see some dramatic action from you here. I campaigned for you, but I can’t do so again unless you make this national news. Maryland needs a fighter.
Video below: “I am American. I am American.” A man pleads, “Ayúdame, ayúdame. Help me!”

Meanwhile, an ICE officer pulls a gun on innocent bystanders — in Hyattsville, MD. This is happening in America. Right now.

What are we doing about this? It MUST stop. @SenateDems @HouseDemocrats

I know we’re like beyond such pedestrian/antiquated concerns as “cash flow”, but is $MU going to actually make meaningful profit from this otherworldly one time spike in revenue, or no? 6 billion in capex this Q leaving just $800 million in FCF - on nearly $200b of EV.

Compton, CA: A masked, heavily-armed man wearing body armor jumped out of a SUV today to kidnap a local resident.

He forgot to put the vehicle in park, causing it to roll down the street damaging other cars. He jumped in the vehicle (which had no platess) and drove off without identifying himself.

hundred percent agreement here
explain to me how we cabin bespoke rules for crypto to just crypto & comply with the Administrative Procedure Act. For example if crypto lending doesn’t have to register, why not auto lending? If coinbase can merge a broker with an exchange with a VC with a market maker, why can’t NYSE?

🚨 The Liberal Party will lead Canada's next government.

CBC just called it; too early to know if it'll be a majority or minority government.

"A stunning reversal," says the CBC: Conservatives led by *huge* margins throughout 2024, but Trump's arrival was a big factor in changing everything.

The business world IS the fuckaround industry.
I swear to god people like this will briefly consult a summary of a document they ordered from a predictive text generator and will say they read it, like a complete psychopath. I'm starting to run into them in the business world too, not just the fuckaround industries

I said my main goal of this trip was to meet with Kilmar. Tonight I had that chance. I have called his wife, Jennifer, to pass along his message of love. I look forward to providing a full update upon my return.
