I wrote about the new Muppet Show, which is, thank God, exactly like the old Muppet Show.
Finally, a Muppet Show Reboot That Understands the Original Appeal of the Muppets
After countless failed gimmicks, this time it’s just like you remembered it.

NEW: Abigail Spanberger this afternoon ordered that all state agencies leave ICE's 287(g) program.

This means that the state police (and some other agencies) will no longer be empowered to detain and arrest people for ICE.

Big, big move by the governor within weeks of coming into office.
Virginia’s New Governor Ends ICE Program. Local Contracts Remain, For Now. - Bolts
Abigail Spanberger left the 287(g) program, which empowered state law enforcement to detain immigrants. Will Democrats also bar local police and sheriffs from the program?

"The system sucks. This job sucks."

A Justice Department lawyer was removed from her post after her comments to a federal judge.

“I wish you would just hold me in contempt, your honor, so that I can have full 24 hours of sleep,” she said.

they don't have enough guys, and if the response in Minnesota shows anything it is that trying something like this is going to drive a much larger backlash than anything they hope to gain out of it

"oh well I guess we'll just stay home" is not how this is going to go

This whole thing where billionaires snap up media properties so they can run them into the ground to make it harder for people to call them and their cronies to account is extremely obvious and very tiresome. It also limits our access to largr information about culture and the world, also by design.

Highlighting the speaker who stood in front of the Surprise mayor and told him to consider what the Mayor of Ohrdruf must’ve thought before he died by suicide: “He might have thought ‘how is this my fault I had no jurisdiction over this’ maybe he said ‘this site was not subject to local zoning.’”

This just in, Children's Minnesota thinks children dying is fine actually, perhaps even preferable given how absolutely they caved at the first hint of pressure.
Children’s Minnesota is suspending gender-affirming care in response to threats by the Trump administration to cut off millions of dollars in federal funding that keep its pediatric clinics and hospitals running.

Fascism wants you to believe that you are alone. That you are isolated. That the feelings you have are yours and nobody else has them because everybody is too afraid to speak.

But love is stronger than fascism. Community is stronger than fascism.

okay but democratic voters want to abolish ICE and prosecute everyone who works for it, so
Democrats want commonsense reform for ICE:

End the roving patrols and racial profiling.

Take accountability and abide by the same rules as local police.

Seeing yet another 'using whistles is disablist' piece circulating: for the 40 millionth time, using disabled people as cover like this is disgusting and calculated to prey on people who are anxious about doing the wrong thing. Doesn't escape notice that white people are the worst offenders.

In 2020 @totallydonna.kitrocha.com & I started a trilogy about 3 book nerds (w/ superpowers) who just want to build a library for their community but shitty tech bros suck so they have to keep doing crimes.

Tor was kind enough to put book one on sale for $5.99!

one thing that would be cool, when prominent creators turn out to be terrible people, would be if we didn't have to go through this performative dance of insisting that their work was never good in the first place.

One of the things that keeps me going is that we are trying to protect something--community--and in the process we are strengthening that very thing. Their goal is simply to destroy. They have the guns and we have the whistles, but every day we become stronger and they do not.
