Why has the government been closed at all if Senate Dems cave now? Didn't they say that they could not go along with throwing millions of people off health care?

What's materially changed? A *promise* is not action. ALSO fascists lie and I've been told by some Senate Dems that the GOP is fascist.

Y'all, they been setting up Vetaw to be the next mayor after this. And we gotta increase outreach/turnout for 2026 anyway. Progressives in this city not over North (like really over north not north loop) need to better understand North by MAGNITUDES.

institutions have been involved in digitization, for example, which made research that many of us do possible — but we don't control a lot of that infrastructure because we partnered with companies like Google, Gale, etc. Publishing conglomerates' enormous consolidation of power in the era of +

Congrats to Becka Thompson on not ACTUALLY having to move in with her uncle 50.2% of the time.

My mom, recently moved back to Mpls, is reading @naomikritzer.bsky.social 's blog and snickering appreciatively at turns of phrase. ❤️

The few kids who got distracted reading this were my favorite thing this evening.

(Near runner up, the -several- kids thrown by the lack of glass in my storm door. Most thought it a fun trick, but a few were very concerned about my broken door - i showed those how I would put it back together.)

Popped back in to Bsky to check on this and apparently we are at the stage of claiming to be living in a relative's house, possibly only just over half the week (bc she was claiming just -under- half the week in W12 before she resigned from Park Board (in the ward her actual house is in.))
And my follow up question: if we are past that deadline, did Becka Thompson move? And if she moved, did she resign her N Minneapolis Park Board seat? I know there's a window here and I am curious if she hit it, is still trying to hit it, if she's counting on no one actually checking, or what?

Man, having to do work that rests on the presumption that laws exist is extra-draining lately.

Look, there are a lot of things you can say about this, and, if I'm honest, there are a lot of things that I'm resisting the urge to say about this.

But I'll say this much: software companies broke ownership. The longer we go without fixing that, the more we're going to regret it.

So the spirits of the Connecticut Four are sitting on my shoulder and asking me: if the feds rolled up to your library and asked you to generate a list of patrons with Hispanic last names, with maybe their addresses and current checkouts, could you do that?

i think it's bad if you can do that 📚

I needed this reminder today, thanks.
a point I make over and over re: climate change is that there’s no point at which it’s time to throw up your hands and give up, because each tenth of a degree you can prevent is worth it

2C is better than 2.1C is better than 2.2C and so on and so forth

Of recent reposts, this is one I think even a lot of smart folks are underestimating.
If you -must- metricize yourself, I recommend products "for seniors" which can often be used without an app/WiFi.
If the Republicans ever succeed in repealing Obamacare’s protections for preexisting conditions, your smartwatch and health monitors could be the snitch that documents your preexisting conditions and costs you your insurance coverage and possibly your life!
