I can tell you why, at least at CTV. I used to chase produce for Newschannel when Power Play was off air.

You'd show up for work, making (in my case) less than 50K a year, and you'd have like, two hours at a time to find someone to speak about XYZ, on national TV, with next to no notice.

Oh, look—the Bank of Canada points to import costs, largely to do with our depreciated dollar, as one of the biggest drivers of food price inflation in the last year.
But don't worry—Poilievre will dismiss this when presented with these facts, and insist it's still imaginary taxes.
Import costs driving Canada food inflation, BOC research says
Bank of Canada research suggests the acceleration in food inflation last year was almost entirely due to rising import costs. Read here now

"Jail not bail! Jail not bail!"
But so long as Ontario lets horror shows like Maplehurst continue, that is going to result in more charges being stayed and more time served sentences, because they refuse to do the hard work.

Jermaine Neverson, 36, pleaded guilty to 22 charges in September 2023, including human trafficking and several counts of assault and sexual assault.

(1/4) This is the Conservative Party of Canada today—bending reality to fit its ideology and hoping no one notices the distortion. And none of this should shock anyone when it’s being pushed by a leading voice of the party’s alt‑right faction, Jamil Jivani, who proudly aligns himself with JD Vance.

Elections matter. Politics exist. People are complicated.

This isn't a "lie". It's reality.
It's just really hard to live in a world where an existential crisis for the species is talked about like it's a political preference.

Fossil fuel companies were able to make the biggest threat to humanity a partisan issue in order to protect their business. So many, like Max, reinforce this lie.
Mark Carney's grand bargain with Alberta wasn't popular with climate activists, but it's a much different story with the broader public.

Why it's part of his push to return the Liberals to their former position on the political spectrum. #cdnpoli www.nationalobserver.com/2025/12/12/o...

In B.C. the layoffs include virtually all of the online team, along with many others.

The business is increasingly cruel, and the hollowing out of newsrooms providing fair and reliable information continues to suck.
