We talked about running these numbers at UM soc when it became so obvious that women TAs got more complaints for the same classes. Glad someone tested it formally.
Experimental evidence that students are more likely to contest grades when they are delivered by an evaluator with a female-sounding name.

"These findings suggest that women in evaluative positions face disproportionate resistance when delivering negative assessments."

IMHO, you can’t understand what’s happening to the US if u don’t know about the “network state” movement & its “parallel establishment” strategy, which includes building “parallel societies” (w/ their own physical territories) & “parallel institutions” in media, education, finance, science, etc. 1/

This is critically important. Democrats need to pass it if they retake Congress. Trump will veto it. So pass it again. Campaign on it. Given current polling, corruption of the FBI, and the brutality of ICE and BP, there’s no better time to say, “Federal police are not above the law.”
Restoring Bivens rights: one bill "would allow citizens to sue for damages resulting from constitutional violations committed by federal officers," while the other "would create a cause of action against federal law enforcement agencies and police depts for constitutional violations."
These congressmen want to give you the right to sue federal law enforcement for violating your rights
The proposed bills aim to codify a 1971 Supreme Court ruling that allowed individuals to sue the feds for Fourth Amendment violations.

BREAKING: Judge James Boasberg rules for those deported under the Alien Enemies Act on March 15 — certifying a class, finding the U.S. maintained constructive custody over them at CECOT, finding they were not given due process, and ordering return or that such process be given by Jan. 5, 2026.

All we can say is this judge has been amazing. Thank you for looking out for him. Today, the government admitted it had not decided whether it would arrest him again, a position Judge Paula Xinis openly questioned. “Why should I lift it so he can get arrested in the middle of the night?”

The hard truth is that December is always make-or-break for our newsroom. A full one-third of all the funds we need to practice the journalism you rely on comes to us in December.

If you can, please donate today. We'd truly appreciate it 🫶

Trans youth healthcare is based in decades of research and supported by every major medical organization in the US. Under RFK Jr, a handpicked panel produced a dodgy report claiming otherwise.

It's a clear example of Kennedy's war on science. So why aren't news organizations treating it that way?

As trans healthcare is decimated no one is standing up for the integrity of the scientific process for these patients.

For years now, moderates have decried the division of identity politics of Democrats, ignoring of course that the Republican Party was defined by identity politics itself — the identity of whiteness. Now that it’s explicit the inability to call it out and to cover it aptly is starkly disappointing.

A case in Louisiana highlights the nightmarish potential of AI deepfakes to upend children’s lives. And while schools are working to address artificial intelligence in classroom instruction, they often have done little to prepare for what the new tech means for cyberbullying and harassment.

you wouldn't want a story humanizing Venezuelan men at a time when the Trump administration is trying to enflame tensions to justify illegal militaristic pursuit of Venezuelan precious metal and oil resources, would you?

Of course you wouldn't

If you didn't read it you don't cite it. It's simple enough.

If you cite a work, you're telling your reader that you've read it and verify that it says X. If you haven't read it, you're lying to your reader. Lying is bad. If you do it as a matter of practice, you're a liar. Liars cannot be trusted to convey knowledge.
