Zarah Sultana for D-G!
the right winger who was appointed to lead the BBC in the hope of appeasing right wingers has been driven out by right wingers for not appeasing right wingers enough and the BBC has the chance to do the funniest thing ever

Low bills & clean energy.

This is the future that Reform is trying to thwart
Australia has so much electricity from solar power that it is going to start offering free electricity to everyone for at least three hours during the day as the wholesale price of power goes negative

Australia has so much solar that it's offering everyone free electricity
Australia's extensive solar power penetration makes so much energy that the government wants to offer free electricity at peak hours.

I entirely get the importance of the nostalgia-industrial complex to Farage and his ilk, but the idea that nobody these days would recognise an alarm clock if it bit them is preposterous.
I don’t think it actually caught on in 2011 when Clegg referred to alarm clock Britain but who these days actually uses one? Like most of what Farage does he’s nostalgically gesturing to a past which few can really remember personally.

Tbf, 8% of the UK population say they were at the Sex Pistols first gig.
(And the other 92% took part in the D-Day landings)
Maybe it was way more than seven million? "8% of Americans say they participated in a No Kings protest on October 18."

p.s. Older people are really showing up.

Reading this thread explains a lot about the way humanity has turned out … but not why it has survived at all
What’s the stupidest thing you’ve ever done? I don’t mean “cheating on your partner” stupid, I mean stupid stupid. Like, once, I had this bubble bath which smelled absolutely delicious, so I took a big glug of it. That kind of stupid. (It did not taste delicious.)
