This is a very well expressed sentiment, and is a thought I've presented on far less succinctly in the past.
I think the shortest version of why LLMs are an anti education technology is that education is fundamentally about making shared context to understand ourselves, each other, and the world

And by design LLMs destroy shared context

As an alum of SILS, I'm deeply disappointed in UNC leadership for this decision (and in general, these days).
Breaking: We’ve talked to multiple individuals who have confirmed that UNC-CH is merging SILS (library and information science) and SDSS (data science and society). Announcement will be tomorrow morning. Faculty were not consulted.

Deep cut musical nerd thought - I had no idea that she lived in Franklin these days. It’s so weird to think that one of the OBC of the Sondheim musical AND one of the actual assassins were living in the same town.

Hey librarians: If you use a product or workflow at your library that integrates OA/OER material into your discovery/delivery, can you lmk who and what? Doing research for a project and starting to gather info.

Please share widely. :-)

I was the executive director of U.S. Open Data, a non-profit that I created at the behest of the Obama White House. I worked as one of the nation's leading experts in open data. Putting open data on the blockchain is a profoundly stupid idea that fails nearly every test of good open data.

Every few months, my Facebook feed algorithm goes completely insane in the same way: All of my ads become far, far right: god and guns, over and over and over, in the weirdest combinations and craziest products. Then it stops, and I've got no idea what triggers it.

I am waging a losing battle against a raccoon. It has managed to undo bungee cords & as you can see from the footprints it seems to enjoy pure cayenne pepper. I installed a motion based alarm that flashes lights....did nothing.

I've got a raccoon on an endorphin high that likes raves. Send help.

One of my fav bands of all time, their albums were an absolute revelation to my teenage self. Vivid, Time's Up, and Stain are classics, and their songs taught me about social issues and history that I definitely wasn't taught in rural KY. They should be in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

Hey #librarians - I'm doing research for an upcoming show, and looking for examples of protest signs from the American Folk tradition...Woodie Guthrie, Pete Seeger, Dylan, Joan Baez. So spanning from WWII thru the early 1960's.

Anyone have a resource they can point me at?
