So am I reading this court decision correctly? We now have 50 micronations with their own laws interpreting the U.S. Constitution wholly separate from one another? But there's one guy with private law enforcement who is immune from all punishment who can do whatever he wants in those 50 states?

More so, DNA is not culture, identity, nor kinship; which are, historically, what people have tended to use to reckon belonging. Partial genetic ties to ancestral populations do not, therefore, make you "part" anything. That's not how communities and cultures work.

It also summons eugenics.

This is why we don’t like it when autism charities participate in genetic database studies & projects.

We get derided for being “anti-research” and yet look…

The US Far Right wants to make a registry of disabled people.

I filmed this yesterday on my way to Lousiana where my constituent Rümeysa Öztürk is being wrongfully held by ICE. I’m there now demanding her release. More to come.

On the one hand, I know this is entirely a publicity stunt and unrelated. On the other, it's a bit infuriating I see the positive coverage of this juxtaposed to all the nonsensical handwringing about trans athletes.

Rümeysa Öztürk has not been accused of any crime. Plainclothes ICE agents grabbed her off the street, arrested, and detained her.

For nearly 24 hours, Ms. Öztürk’s attorney was unable to locate her as ICE quickly moved her in three different states.

We won’t stop fighting to bring Rümeysa home.

It is WILD seeing college protesters lumped in with sex traffickers and drug smugglers. All marketed to cops to sell AI tools that, regrettably, probably work very well at guiding people to incriminate themselves. Like a police car tailgating someone until they speed.

Liz I'm not asking you to get on a plane to El Salvador at your age but some UC holds would be a nice start
If President Trump can wrongly deport a Maryland father to a prison in El Salvador and then defy a 9-0 Supreme Court order to facilitate bringing him home, who’s next?

This threatens the rights and freedoms of everyone in the United States.

Outrageous and thuggish.

“[C]riminal defense attorney Adam H. Bernstein… said it’s ‘disturbing’ that federal agents would go into a state courthouse and detain someone before their court-ordered appearance.

‘This is a tactic … to stymie the state judicial process,’ he said.”
Immigration agents tackled man inside N.H. courthouse, preventing him from attending his arraignment - The Boston Globe
The two agents, who told a local police officer they came to apprehend people on behalf of ATF and ICE, haven’t been publicly identified. It’s unclear where the man they detained was taken.

I never thought we had a meritocracy going, but it wasn't....THIS
I once saw a guy get fired at a pizza place I worked at for giving a customer 8 breadsticks instead of 6, and it actually fucked up his life pretty badly. And yet these guys can just light enormous piles of money on fire and they’re still the most powerful and influential people on the planet 🥴
Happy to help. Nothing happened. Everyone pretended like it didn't happen. It's almost entirely gone. Horizon World somehow exists. $45bn basically disappeared into a black hole owed to "lack of a clear vision and mismanagement." Who knows what happened!

one of the most frustrating things about this "debate" is seeing liberals try to defend us and end up conceding virtually every argument made by their opponent bc they don't know how hrt works. everything about my life is being debated by two "sides" who can't even be bothered to understand my life
the trans women in sports bans have been such an effective wedge against ppl who are ostensibly trans allies bc combatting those bans requires an actual understanding of how trans women's bodies work and that has never been a high priority in cis allyship

The Smart People said "Abolish ICE" was too radical. Then ICE kidnapped students, sent innocent people to a mega prison, broke into a car to take a mom from her daughter, and tried questioning elementary kids while lying that they had parents permission.

Ask yourself: which part is more "radical"?

It's tempting to ascribe this to malice specific to Ms. Öztürk but no, this is actually pretty standard medical care in a lot of jails and prisons and ICE detention centers (same with the failure to provide religiously-appropriate treatment).

This is a cop out.

There is a much better way to kill an amendment. It's called a "no" vote.

Instead, they added a second amendment that still has language letting it go into effect should such a study ever happen.

The amendment shouldn't have even gotten in the bill. You have a MAJORITY.
