Breaking from the Office of Pres. Obama:

"Our office does not normally dignify the constant nonsense and misinformation flowing out of this White House with a response. But these claims are outrageous enough to merit one. These bizarre allegations are ridiculous and a weak attempt at distraction.

Folds: If we’ve been told our whole lives that we can’t spend money on the arts because they’re not important—then why was taking over the Kennedy Center and the arts the first thing they did?

It is extremely important. It’s the bedrock of self-expression.

Wouldn't really call this a "pat on the back," it's a "keep hustling we're still in the first quarter. We're only down 50 points, which is good for this team, but still"
🧵 worth reading.

I’m not ready to pat ourselves (white, cis, etc.) on the back just yet, but that possibility exists. There is hope. We could create a vastly better world. It’s still possible.
I know we don't feel like there's much to celebrate this July 4th. It's been a rough several years.

So I want to talk about how we're making history right now.

If you started paying attention to the US in 1960, this sure feels like the darkest timeline. But unfortunately, purges against Black & brown people are normal US behavior.

You know what's NOT normal US behavior?

This is the first time there's been a mass movement to STOP a purge in real time.

If you were too young in 2003 here is what Bush told the American people:

1) The Iraq War won’t cost a lot of money
3) We won’t need a lot of troops
4) We’ll bring peace and freedom to Iraq
5) We’ll find WMDs
6) We’ll be welcomed as liberators
7) It will be easy
8) It won’t take long

All lies.

Incredible that the side of the debate that was repeatedly wrong to the tune of hundreds of thousands of deaths has the audacity to demand apologies and genuflection from the people who were right and worked to save lives. Sick shit!
More than 700K Americans died from COVID after he wrote this. We still have not achieved herd immunity.

Some folks are arguing that sexism couldn't have played a role in 2024. Here's the thing: You can't empirically prove that sexism influenced the outcome. You can't disprove it, either. Those who deny sexism played a role pretend that they're arguing from a stronger empirical position. They're not.

just so we’re all clear: the reason they keep using dolls as their example is because they’re trying to frame caring about material stuff as feminine and thus inherently shameful
Bessent says that little girls who are sad about having fewer dolls should just have it explained to them that they will have a better life for it

Allow me to address the elephant in the room: The decades-long outsourcing of domestic manufacturing to China was not an insidious Chinese conspiracy for dominance but the greedy strategy of the American ruling class to explode its profit margins by exploiting global inequality.

For folks saying,"Ignore the Pope thing! He wants to offend you! Don't you get it!" I have this rule I follow. I say what I think. I don't get into second order head games in which I think I'm outwitting someone else by strategically not saying what I think. Perhaps Im simple. But that's how I roll.

Corporations are buying politicians via campaign finance and lobbying.

These politicians, in turn, pass legislation that benefits their corporate owner donors.

I’ve always been outspoken about this.
Nina can never explain WHY this happens only describe that it is happening. This shows a dreadful lack of theory underpinning her foundational beliefs. If you think liberalism and capitalism can save themselves from the contradictions they create, you’re insane. Don’t use broken tools to do repairs.
People aren’t broke because they’re “splurging” on iPhones and lattes, people are broke because corporations have bought up housing, control our healthcare, and are gouging at the register.
