Trump’s America
We evacuated our kids out of Minneapolis this weekend and my spouse reports that as she drove them out of town she saw "multiple freeway exits where people are being pulled over." It feels like the Twin Cities is being subjugated by a hostile occupying force.

This is a gigantic stain on everything that should be decent about America. We have Lawless sadistic, thugs, terrorizing students and teachers. Under the direction of a sadistic dog murderer, and a malignant narcissistic psychopath in the White House.
a major american city is being forced to close schools because armed government agents are raiding and pepper spraying and terrorizing children and teachers for social media content
Minneapolis public schools canceled classes officials after Roosevelt High School said armed Border Patrol officers came on school property during dismissal Wednesday and began tackling people, handcuffed two staff members and released chemical weapons on bystanders

Watters is an irresponsible vile twit
Jesse Watters highlights that Renee Nicole Good, the woman killed by ICE, had "pronouns in her bio" and "leaves behind a lesbian partner and a child from a previous marriage"

Gaslighting America. Vile
Nancy Mace: "It appears that the ICE agent was struck by the car, and in the first video you just showed you can see the agent limping away after he fired shots. So I agree with President Trump and Secretary Noem that this was an act of domestic terrorism. These were, it appears, paid agitators."

Yes
The danger of this moment cannot be overstated. Trump/Noem's vile defense of the killing shows that the heavily-armed government agents roaming our cities are unbound/unaccountable even when they kill Americans.

On the pod, @felipedlh.bsky.social and I dig into this:

Trump’s ICE Agents Killed a Citizen. Then Damning New Details Emerged.
As the ICE shooting horror in Minneapolis gets worse, a writer who focuses on ICE accountability explains why the government’s cover story is full of holes—and what recourse we have now.

IMHO, this is the best way to frame this. Whether the shooting was or was not legally justified (and remember that the legal precedent tends to be incredibly cop friendly) is very different from whether the Trump administration is telling the truth about what happened. They are not. They are lying.

Law enforcement officers CANNOT use deadly force against a fleeing person fleeing unless they have a reasonable belief that the individual poses a danger to others (e.g., they know the person is armed). If in vehicle, the person must be threatening to use deadly force with the vehicle or other means

Heinous vile lies. Hopefully we will be able to hold these people accountable, including those standing behind noem in this video before they flee to Brazil
Noem: "People need to stop using their vehicles as weapons ... it's clear that it's being coordinated. People are being trained"

SAD!
Even Trump says it was a kidnapping. But the BBC says its journalists can’t call it that? Come on.
Q: Rodriguez called it a 'kidnapping' of Maduro

TRUMP: That's alright. That's not a bad term.

REMEMBER!!!!!!
Despite a statutory deadline requiring all of the files to be released by Dec. 19, 5.2 million documents remain to be reviewed and disclosed. It’s likely that the final public release will not occur until the end of February — one full year after Pam Bondi ordered the release of the records.
For Trump, the Epstein Cover-Up Beats the Truth
As one of her first acts as Attorney General, Pam Bondi wrote a letter to the new head of the FBI, Kash Patel, demanding that the “full and complete Epstein files” be delivered to her office by the ne...

Sadly, seems to be true. Thanks CJ Roberts, thanks.
If you are a foreign president who commits crimes overseas, America will come get you, arrest you, and lock you up.

But if you are a US president who commits crimes here in the United States, America will give you immunity from prosecution, reelect you, and bribe you with billions of dollars.

This is how it's done. If incumbent Democrats won't do the job, their primary challengers can and will use this to make sure someone else does
The Republican Congress has chosen to give away its authority and power and now we are being told Trump plans to occupy Venezuela. We don't cry for Maduro. We demand the following of our laws and Constitution. He is already threatening Mexico and Cuba will be next. Ann Wagner is silent.

If incumbent Democrats won’t stand up and push back, challengers will—and should—fill that space.

All well planned in advance no doubt
From repurposed footage filmed years ago in different parts of the world, to AI images and videos of Maduro's arrest, social media platforms like X, Instagram and TikTok were flooded with disinformation within minutes of America's assault on #Venezuela

Disinformation Floods Social Media After Nicolás Maduro's Capture
From seemingly AI-generated videos to the recirculation of old footage, TikTok, Instagram, and X did little to stop the onslaught of misleading posts in the wake of the US invasion of Venezuela.

Schumer is such a tool now.

He will probably be the next president
fwiw it’s been about six weeks since Trump pardoned the former president of Honduras who had been convicted of trafficking drugs into the US

The United States now cannot be distinguished from Russia. What a sad day.
I would think Maduro has head of state immunity from prosecution under international law (with exception for grave human rights violations, see, e.g., Pinochet)
Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.
