The "swing" is between bothering to show up to vote or not. There are maybe 10k rich centrists in Alexandria who flip between Dems and the GOP based on how often their daughter calls them and they're all nuts, there's no point courting them. Mobilize your base and depress theirs, that's how you win.
Idk who needs to hear this but centrists are not de facto swing voters, and swing voters are not de facto centrists.

if you threaten a judges’s family and it is ignored via New Privileges I Just Now Invented to avoid using powers ordinarily exercised without hesitation, you do in fact have extra-legal protections. the legal system a judge is nominally trying to protect by inaction is just as compromised in the end
