Just in NIH grants, It looks like beautiful Iowa City, home of the U of Iowa, will lose $71m in funding. That's almost $1k per resident. And that's before all the other cuts to SSA, FDA, etc.

I was pretty critical about @asm.org's anticipatory obedience to the EOs so I want to amplify this statement & point out some positive actions

- They admitted they'd made mistakes & apologized to affected individuals and in a town hall
- They committed to holding ABRCMS 2025. This is a big 1/

Iowa State University removed any reference to gender-inclusive housing options from the residential life web pages sometime in the last ten days. Someone has decided that erasing trans and non-binary students from campus is a price they are willing to pay to cozy up to the legislature.

Fed friends: we are aware that some HHS employees are being targeted for their public service in DEI and health equity. Now is a good time to ensure you are comfortable with the privacy status of your public profiles, including LinkedIn.

Any university that voluntarily shutters a DEI program, office or personnel “Because of Trumps Executive Order” is making a PR decision. Not a legal one.

Trumps EO does not change anti discrimination law. If anything, the EO is unlawful.

Universities should treat it that way.
