Why won’t LA City use the benefit of hindsight? LA has been criminalizing poverty for decades. We know, we fucking know, IT DOES NOT WORK! What it does do, is breed corruption. LA has created an entire industry that makes money off of poverty. Billions of dollars managing the crisis of our lifetime.

The Ambassador of Mexico went to the Board of Police Commissioners meeting at LAPDHQ this morning. He made public comment asking for LAPD's help with the ICE kidnappings as folks can't go to school or to the doctor. We are in the upside down. LA is no sanctuary city despite what its leaders say!

Alice is the gold standard of what Twitter was when it was great - how you could just find these brilliant, remarkable people with the kind of voices that rarely get platformed or taken seriously, and hear about their lives in their own words without intruding on them or demanding emotional labor
Watching disabled people around the world mourn Alice is a reminder of the good aspect of the internet. 30 years ago, few people outside of SF would ever have known Alice existed. I never would have met her. The internet connected us all. Let’s honor Alice’s memory by using that power and community.

It's strange seeing the centre and the right mocking anyone getting excited about the Green Party. Maybe their ceiling IS 17%. Maybe it's a flash-in-the-pan thing. But we are allowed to get excited about feeling represented on the left after almost six years of being told "you're done, stfu".
