Past middle school everyone is a step behind because they DONT KNOW AND WONT ADMIT THEY DONT UNDERSTAND and you have to CONVINCE THEM OF THIS
I got this useful bon mot from a middle school teacher recently.
In response to, “I DONT UNDERSTAND,” he calmly said, “okay what steps have you taken to understand?”
And that’s when I realized that a lot of folks have no steps.

The disconnect between people who doggedly insist the economy is "better than in the past" and that we're "richer" than our ancestors and people, like me, who think these are absurd assertions is that they are measuring degrees of evil and we are fucking fed up.
