I don't know why every app decided 2025 was the year they all needed to do their own version of Wrapped, but they need to read the goddamn room. The last thing I want to do is remember what happened this year.

The USPS posting a NINE BILLION DOLLAR LOSS!!! sounds terrible. Certainly worse than if you said "USPS costs thirty dollars per person per year" even though that means the same thing and more accurately describes a government service

IT'S TRUE

Plus if you're in the mood for it you can write an entire book based on a sliver of a scrap of a shred of a darling that you do not want to give up and it might then win the Nebula and the World Fantasy Award (I am just saying if it happened once it could happen again)
You don't have to kill ALL your darlings, okay?

Unsolicited writing advice, no. 867:
Your authorial voice is the product of your background, your education, your experiences, all the books you have read. It may change with time, and depending on the narrative voice you adopt, but will keep the same range and register. Celebrate it. It's unique.

Alfred Russel Wallace's 1858 specimen is held at the Natural History Museum in London. It's a truly impressive monarch, although from the size of the mandibles, we can be certain it's female.

Long live the Queen!
