This is how our government has been corrupted:

1) Donors give huge sums to elect politicians to office
2) Elected officials rewrite rules in the donors' favor
3) Donors make huge profit
4) Repeat

We must get big money out of politics.

It is the root of our dysfunction.

this. They delayed a vote for months to unanimously approve it the first time. They don't want it to pass, but they _really_ don't want to be on record opposing it.
But they have to vote again to override a veto, don’t they?

Never underestimate the cowardice

I think the President of the US responding to a question about the murder of a journalist with "A lot of people didn't like that gentleman" is probably pretty bad.

Cosigned. As @pattonoswalt.bsky.social just said: Wood chipper, feet first.
I see the “technically it’s ephebophelia” crowd is out today, so just a reminder that A) this is NOT a case where technically correct is the best kind of correct and B) the minute you say this, the gods dump you in the “irredeemable creeper” basket and wash their hands thoroughly after touching you.

No Starbucks 'til workers get more bucks

(and whatever else it is they are striking for)
As of this morning, Starbucks workers across the country are officially ON STRIKE. And we're prepared for this to become the biggest and longest ULP strike in Starbucks history.

Say #NoContractNoCoffee with us: DON'T BUY STARBUCKS for the duration of our open-ended ULP strike! $SBUX

I agree with this. My +1:

Even if they got it past the congress, the president is never going to sign it.

He'd rather people starve than admit defeat. They appealed a ruling that he had to give food money to children.
This was my take:

After sleeping on it, I am now less angry and critical of the Dems who voted yes.

Why?

Because they know the GOP is not going to vote to continue ACA benefits. Not now, not ever.

So they didn't give up anything they were maybe somehow going to get.

I'm mad about the shut down and worried about healthcare, but not letting people starve is a pretty good reason to cave on this bureaucratic fight, the more I think about it. So just say that: Republicans wanted you to starve rather than compromise, so we let this one go.
