This is not who we are. I became an ICE agent because I truly believed in the value of getting a $50,000 signing bonus to violently assault and terrorize anyone I wanted while never getting in trouble for anything. Being held accountable conflicts strongly with my deeply-held personal beliefs

I still find it baffling that tech leaders are baffled about resistance to adopting AI. You told everyone it was going to replace them, why on earth would you expect people to adopt it with alacrity.

I worry that very few of us have a model for reality right now that really fits what’s happening, myself included.
Some of that is ideological (good and bad) or wishful thinking (natural). But it’s also that things are shifting all the time, and there’s no perfect map for where we are.
