The billionaire press barons must be having a right laugh…

Here we are distracted & arguing over asylum seekers (0.2% of the population)

Meanwhile, billionaires (just 0.0002% of the population) hoard more wealth than half the UK

Immigration isn’t draining us

Inequality is.

The UK sold off its trains, its council houses, its water and so much else - and now all these things are fucked. It stopped investing in its people, and now its productivity, public health and social fabric are fucked. And it fucked itself with Brexit. Now its next PM may be Nigel Farage.

WTF?
The 2,850 council homes built in England last year will be wiped out 6 times over by the 18,500 council homes sold off through right to buy. 41% of these homes end up as private rentals, handing huge sums to landlords at the expense of the rest of us.

Not one Al Jazeera journalist left…

All systematically murdered by a regime desperate to conceal the truth

And while many of their western counterparts and media figures (who are safe and salaried) choose silence and complicity.

Israel murdered five al-Jazeera journalists, including Anas Al-Sharif.

They did so because they're now liquidating Gaza City, and want to silence the remaining witnesses.

Their blood is on your hands, too.

Can you not hear the lies frothing from their racisty lips? Just because that traitor, farage wears a suit, drinks beer, and chants racist tropes, this does not make him your ally, my weak and feeble minded Brexity-types!

Open👏🏻Your👏🏻Eyes!

There is no crisis, other than a crisis of intelligence.
The people who brought you Brexit on a promise of ‘control’ now threaten civil unrest and frothing racism as govt policy…
For love of god can we just stop listening to anything they have to say. They represent nothing but inadequacy and failure. Surely our country can do better than this.

A total disgrace of a paper.
A total disgrace of a man.

I would worry for Jenrick’s daughters too, being brought up by a hate-mongering opportunist, driven mad by Tory failure and now desperate to whip up prejudice, division and social unrest in his vile pursuit of power.

So true!!
Obscene ideas are injected into public life with "humour" ... and then enacted. My column this week is pegged to the recent calls in the Spectator to murder people at Glastonbury, and on GB News to starve and shoot disabled people.
You could call it wink murder.

72 Liberal Democrat mps in parliament but all the media talk about are the measly 4 reform and the #fascist #farage.
But are Reform really “making the political weather” as you, so uncritically say, Chris Mason, or are you making it for them by hyperventilating over each grubby little Tory-Reform-reshuffle, without *ever* properly scrutinising the howling failures of these deeply unpleasant, grifting clowns?

This is an excellent article.
Land is finite and we are increasing our demands on it - markets can help with this but it needs public policy (a land use framework and the planning system) to manage that.

No, it isn’t a leftwing plot, it’s a proposal I authored for the Conservatives in 2021. And it could be brilliantly transformative for England, says Henry Dimbleby, managing partner of Bramble Partner...

How privatisation works (and Thames Water is just the latest example).
1. A government takes a national asset built up with taxpayers' money and the work of public servants over many years, and hands it, for a fraction of its value, to a private company.
2. In doing so, it creates a monopoly.

Appallingly dismissive response from Starmer who claims to know the legal definition of genocide (but won’t spell it out) and apparently continues to believe October 7 justifies it.

FFS! Dreadful idea. League tables and targets will become the priority for NHS managers to the detriment of the welfare of individual patients - just as happened last time.
The UK Government are going for rehashed New Labour policies that weren't any good the first time round. They may as well get Wes Streeting to release a cover version of Never Ever by All Saints.
