When Kayne came to visit him we were lectured about how the two of them were going to forge a new axis of politics. No! They were just assholes made to feel important by the other one.
I find it eternally frustrating: Trump’s behavior is just the product of some very transparent, very disordered inner psychology. But for some reason that psychology is mostly taboo in the realm of political commentary; we have to pretend he has “beliefs” and “policy goals.” I assure you he does not

I mean this question has just been answered, is the thing. It's answered in the abstract realm of public opinion polling. It's answered in the tangible reality of actual housing choices.

People keep saying "Ah, but has it REALLY been answered?! Do we REALLY know?!?" And, yes! It has! We do!

Democrats have levers to stop some of this stuff. The settlement bribes can be prosecuted under state law today. They can threaten committee investigations. But they're going to just sit by helplessly and then wonder in a year why their coverage is unfavorable. It's not just that they're feckless 1/
What's especially galling is that half these billionaires think Trump is an imbecile - they just are incapable of holding any personal values or principles beyond "powerful man good"
As @rbreich.bsky.social notes billionaires and their families own X, Paramount, CBS, Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, the Washington Post, Amazon, MGM, Fox News, the Wall Street Journal and New York Post, and could soon own Warner Bros and CNN

And they are all Trump supporters

"Liberal media" indeed

More than anything else, powerful men - like the ones who run the NYT - believe in the legitimacy of power itself. Because if it isn’t legitimate, they have to start asking hard questions about the world and themselves.

Hannania said that all black people were animals! He said it like two years ago, well into the modern part of his career. I don't know how why so many people are treating him with a Strange New Respect .
To be honest I’m pretty sure the “sincere“ eugenicists - i.e., people who are in favor of immigration from China or wherever - are simply racists whose fixation is specifically ANTI-BLACK RACISM instead of strict white supremacy
there are a few sincere eugenicists like Richard Hannania and they are meaningfully different than just garden-variety racists (no, this is not me saying "they're great! I love them! no problems!"). in theory it's an elitist but not necessarily racist mindset. in practice it like 90% is.

Rape is the distillation of the far-right worldview that Trump embodies: a gleefully sadistic act of domination carried out as fulfillment of a supposedly natural hierarchy. It would be weird if Trump wasn’t a rapist, given his ideological commitments—which is before you get to all the accusations.
i mean c’mon. the president’s best friend was the most notorious pedo in the country’s history who ran a massive child trafficking ring. every bit of circumstantial evidence we have says that trump was a participant. if this were a criminal trial we’d have enough evidence to compel a plea deal.

These are basically Abe Simpson complaints.
This really is just nostalgia. Cars are much better now. A $65 pair of shoes will still last years if you don't beat them up, and you can buy better ones for a bit more if you like. The annoyances in modern products are "too many useless features" and not "could malfunction and kill you."
Cars were better when you didn't need a subscription to turn on your heated seats or when companies couldn't literally throttle your engine output/power without paying a subscription fee! That kind of rent seeking makes products worse and makes them want when products didn't do that.
