this clerk sucks. I stand by the idea that “happy holidays” got popular because people in retail don’t have to remember what damn day it is
many years ago I told a clerk at a store “happy holidays!!” after making my purchase and she said “uh actually it’s ’merry christmas’ or I prefer you don’t say anything” and I said “oh in that case, fuck your holidays :)” and I still feel very positive about that interaction
