As most things in manga owe a debt to Tezuka Sensei (Osamu Tezuka), it is not surprising that scholars have isolated Tezuka’s 1953 series “Princess Knight” as a deeply important touchstone for the evolution of trans representation in manga as a whole. #princessknight #tezuka 1/11

🚨 My new piece: increasingly, vaccine hesitancy tied to political identity www.thestar.com/opinion/cont... via @thestar.com

Vaccines are a wedge issue, exploited by politicians to garner votes, by political commentators to build brands and by online influencers to get clicks.

#VaccinesWork
On measles and vaccines, Canada can’t keep ignoring the elephant in the room
Study after study has shown that political affiliation is one of the single strongest predictors of vaccination status.

2) Still upset we lost Jeff Barnaby (how was that 4 years ago?). No question, he was one of the freshest perspectives in modern film, especially working in genre flicks

One of the markers (but only one) of craft from rote labor is that you as worker have some autonomy to seek out friction for a variety of reasons. That's one of the big markers, rather than imagined binaries of craft v industry.

Or, a frictionless world renders you to a cog.
Hi. I wrote an essay about AI slop: How it feels like an invasive species for the internet. How its boosters describe building a future that’s devoid of craft. How frictionlessness can be nihilistic & how this stuff seems to leach part of our shared humanity out of the world. I hope you'll read it.
