It is not about that.
It is about living life.
It is about doing your best, trying to leave something positive behind yourself.
It is about stopping to complain.
It is about seeing light and being that light for others.

My kid: I always thought CS Lewis ruined Narnia by having Susan abandon it for "lipstick and boys". As if girls are only interesting when they're prepubescent.

Me: Well...it was the 40s

Kid: you know what else was written in the 40s? Moomin. And that shit is woke AF.

Me the first week after buying a bass: cool, cool. I can do this.

Me after following lessons for a year, trying to learn jazz and metal songs: fuck, this is hard.

The idea that there’s some sort of profound philosophical or spiritual difference between someone who was born in 1970, 1980, 1990, or 2000 is INSANE. It’s nuts. But everyone just goes “yeah I’m generation glorp and I def think my spiritual path was set by my particular breakfast cereal jingles.”

On a flight to YYZ. The fellow next to me has "Highway to the Danger Zone" by Kenny Loggins queued up on his iphone. Just when they kick in the jets to take off he hits play, looks out the window, and does a sharp salute and a thumbs up, just like Maverick in the movie. I love people sometimes.

At least one person at CNN gets it.

“I think a lot of it can be explained by the viewers making a decision that they just don’t like what we’re doing,” said a CNN political journalist who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they are not authorized to comment. “The viewers are pretty smart.”

Happy Winter Solstice!

These photos were taken with a pinhole camera I made from a beer can and left out from Summer to Winter Solstice - a 6 month exposure.

Bottom line = Winter Solstice. Top line = Summer Solstice.

The lines are the Sun moving across the sky w/some reflections. No line = clouds

In elementary school, my teacher told my mother I was “unteachable.” I was behind in every subject, including reading. Then I found this one book in the school library and connected with it, reading it hundreds of times. I made a career in reading, writing, and editing. That’s what a book can do.
