Never ever ever ever ever ever surrender the microphone. Restricting press is meaningless as long as we drive our own cars with our own bodies, they keep safe in the same way we do for our own.
I’m not totally sure how to address this but apparently I’m getting kicked out of ICE rapid response for the moment because I’m allowing press ridealongs, with an extremely strict condition that no other observer be identified. Lots of observers have allowed ridealongs and they benefit us.

This is a huge mistake. What Will and others are doing is showing the country how to effectively resist ICE and showing the world that Americans are fighting back. Kicking Will out is bad opsec, bad policy, bad politics. Grow the movement and tell the story. Don't gatekeep.

We are living through the total moral collapse of the United States of America.
Folks get touchy about the Nazi Germany comparisons but I cannot think of a more apt comparison, at least in the modern history of developed democracies.

If Iran refuses to make a deal, Donald Trump says the next attack will be “far worse” than the raids on its nuclear sites last year. That is a credible threat. We lay out the three possible scenarios econ.st/4rohQNm

I do not give a shit if it's Noem or the Keebler elves who run the Gestapo, I want you to stop paying them.
Rep. Marie Gluesenkamp Perez (one of 7 Democrats who just voted to fund DHS) defends her stance.

Argues funding for ICE "is not the question." Instead, Senate Democrats have leverage for various demands.

"I think they could negotiate to replace Noem with someone that doesn't skirt the filibuster."

Kanye West easy, it is hard to remember now but Kanye was damn near permanently goated for voicing what people were feeling re Katrina.
Question for the Skyline: What was your HARDEST "cancel"?? Like the actor/singer/athlete that was the hardest to drop.

I feel like it's always people I don't fw getting canceled so it's never really a loss.

The hardest one was maybe TI because I actually liked multiple albums by him.

Objectively untrue. Younger generations have been more than clear about their reasons. A person is free to disagree with those reasons in the pages of the NYT but this is not that.
In @nytopinion.nytimes.com

Younger generations “have fallen out of love with Harry Potter because they have fallen out of love with the worldview the series represents,” writes Louise Perry. “Which is to say that young people have fallen out of love with liberalism.”
Opinion | Why Gen Z Doesn’t Love ‘Harry Potter’

To say aloud that the vice president is friends with Nazis and to point out that his Holocaust tweet is crafted so as not to offend them is to sound crazy to everyone who doesn’t know both are stone cold facts. Frustrating thing.
Legitimately a feat of carefully calculated writing to issue a Holocaust Remembrance Day statement of this length without mentioning either (1) the people who perpetrated the Holocaust or (2) the people against whom they perpetrated it

“We need to reform immigration detention” ??? What do these words mean in the context of this child we killed?
Anadith Danay Reyes Álvarez died in government custody.

She had sickle cell and congenital heart disease but couldn’t access timely and adequate medical care.

Excellent piece on the deliberate hypocrisies of the 2nd Amendment and why nonviolence is the most common effective tactic against something deliberately designed to sanction violence by a small group of white elites.
Don't just read the headline. This essay is my lengthy ode to the hard-fought, hard-won successes of the communitarian movement in the Twin Cities, which has been the scourge of fascists and put the most cracks in Trump's fascist front.

Nonviolence has achieved much, and will do more still.
Don't Buy a Gun
Confrontational but nonviolent protest is more effective than the solipsistic comfort of an assault rifle.

On Holocaust Remembrance Day, we remember the six million Jewish people murdered by the Nazis, as well as countless other victims.

We honor their lives by rejecting the evils of antisemitism, dehumanization, and authoritarian violence wherever they appear.
