I worry about safety every time I go to temple, which I am increasingly doing bc Montgomery’s Jewish community is small & politically cautious. I want it to be neither of those things so I have to do my part.

Yes. Recently back from an illuminating visit to the RGV, including w in-laws who have worked work for CBP. But also: once the dynamics are learned, some work is in order to sort out what it will take to change them. Racism and nationalism don’t explain them alone. 👁️
lotta people about to learn about the fucked up dynamics in the Rio Grande Valley, where CBP has long been one of the biggest employers and the place where you are most likely to find people with brown skin and Mexican surnames casually dropping the most vile anti immigrant slurs non-stop
