Firstly: this is a great thread

Secondly: I absolutely love a cool rock! I have a whole collection
One of the tragedies of growing up is it's apparently no longer "socially acceptable" to carry around a cool rock & show it to people you meet.

So I have to respect the Chinese, Korean & Japanese for having a tradition of finding cool rocks & displaying them.

Let's talk about scholar's stones.

One thing we all know about the Fair Folk is that they are famously chill and transparent about contracts, right? Right?

This has brought up a question I actually don't know - when did the specific form "the fae" become so popular in English?

OED has "Faerie" going back to Spenser, "fey" as "fairylike" in 1823, and there's obviously "Morgan le Fay" from French, but can't find much for "the fae" til quite recently!

New book/mail day is always an excellent day.

Plus when @cultauthor.bsky.social says someone's worth a read, you should probably pay attention.

Satan, of course, is well known for playing the *checks notes* pan pipes. Satan pipes?
A reader told me she was asked to take off her Hellebore “Wind in the Willows” jumper before entering Westminster Abbey. The reason given was that it depicts the devil and might offend people. The reader explained it was the Greek god Pan, but the security guard didn’t backtrack. Satanic panic 2025.

I love Frank's stuff. You can, for example, buy this as a sticker (50p each!) and give one to each of your friends. Which I think is very much being the change you want to see in the world.
here is a non-exhaustive thread of Giftable Things available in my shop that are £25 or under, because *gestures at calendar*:

I actually burned my Neil Gaiman books. I was going to throw them in the bin, but the utter vileness of his actions demanded something more intense.
"What if one of YOUR favorite politicians/celebrities/etc is on the list?" Did you all not notice how quickly we dropped Neil Gaiman when we found out about the things he did? Do you know how beloved that guy used to be and how loathed he is now? I think that right there should answer your question.

The guy on Reddit who got his…“cylinder” stuck in an M&Ms tube is still on there with the same username *two years later*. He must be an incredibly good sport: every single comment he makes, whatever the subject, is immediately followed by at least dozen people asking him about his cylinder.
