Mum-coded. Books, food and language stuff. I have approximate knowledge of many things. She/her ei/hi.

PP: me as a Lofi Girl. Banner: an empty street from Spirited Away. Faded buildings, red lanterns, and a cloudless blue sky.
100%: I am always going to do my very best to get people’s names right. And bowing to public pressure and choosing an “easier” name doesn’t help: my mum called me Lorna instead of the Gaelic name she wanted to use, in case English people found it hard, and they still messed Lorna up all the time!

Oh boy. I’m sorry Franz

I respect your concern for my noggin

That noise you hear is me hitting my head on my desk repeatedly

I’m sorry Emily: I can understand why this is so worrying, but it is just so cruel and unnecessary

They’re very useful for making little water squirters, for hot days

“It can’t possibly be dangerous if it’s natural” 🫠

Oh ffs, that doctor!
November 22, 2025 at 12:36 PM
That is not surprising somehow: grapefruit juice knocks it out too

Genuinely did not know that about tigers eye!

I like a pretty rock as much as the next person, but they are 100% only for display

What about the people who reckon you can mix bleach with ammonia, because they’re both safe and natural with no chemicals?

Although genuinely people did at first think radium was a scientific cure all when it was first known about. If you have a strong stomach, you can read about this poor guy who poisoned himself with radium “medicine”

Exactly: arsenic and cyanide are natural!
November 22, 2025 at 12:29 PM
Best case it does fuck all, worst case you dissolve all kinds of mysterious salts and poison yourself
November 22, 2025 at 12:23 PM
It’s really quite alarming how much people assume that “natural” stuff is always safe. I came across advice to make “crystal elixir” for drinking by putting various stones/crystals etc in water, and oh my god, NO!

I also did not know about the St John’s Wort thing, and I take citalopram: filing that bit of knowledge away safely in my brain box

Even a stopped clock etc

You should go and visit! It’s such a lovely place

I would agree! Bread soup (eg pappa al pomodoro) is amazing stuff. Though in fairness I guess that would have been out of reach for most Victorians

Practicing just mean you get to eat more curry…

It’s run by the same people that do the Tebay services, which I remember being an excellent place to stop on the way to Grandma and Grandpa MacLeod’s house in Forres

He may be without brain cell, but he is thoroughly endowed with beauty

It’s such an amazing combination, and I think I made a really good vegetable curry this time.
November 20, 2025 at 10:33 PM
I’d imagine that it would be better than nothing if you were in tight circumstances, and trying to feed someone something soft and unchallenging?

Onion is so majestic ♥️
