The most Indiana thing about me, other than dipping my breadsticks in nacho cheese, is that I WILL complain about getting an extra hour of sleep today. I understand that we're back on real time now, but that doesn't mean I won't still complain about DST.

the history of parapsychology is how easy it is for 12-year-old girls to play pranks on very serious middle-aged men.
I take no joy (much joy) in telling you that "teen girls are psychokinetic around menarche and make poltergeists" remains a common paranormal explanation and originated in the early 1900s, pioneered by researchers like Nandor Fodor. Gef the Talking Mongoose and the Enfield Poltergeist are examples.

Breaking News: Brad Lander, the New York City comptroller who is running for mayor, was detained by ICE agents at an immigration court as he tried to escort a migrant out of the courthouse to prevent his arrest. nyti.ms/4jWkANE

Re: Lander being detained by ICE, it’s important also to understand that Lander is, while I wouldn’t say “abolitionist,” extremely anti-carceral and a strong proponent of changes to the carceral system and alternatives to incarceration. He’s probably the most powerful person in NYC with those views.

If techno fascists are trying to convince you to abdicate your decision making and imaginative processes to them and their machines, that is reason enough to resist generated art. They do not have your interests in mind.

They are attacking creatives as a class, and using that tech makes you a scab.

Stop using AI.

Yes, even just for fun.

AI is built on STOLEN images and text.

That’s right: by using it, you’re stealing from your friends. There is NOT ethical generative AI.

Bonus bullshit: it is HORRENOUS for the environment.

(Yes, even the cutesy profile photo cartoon things.)

It's not just that Reagan was historically awful but it's also an indicator of who the DNC still thinks their target audience is
If you're a Democrat praising Reagan....look, I don't know how else to say this but you're actually a Republican then.

you DO NOT need to get arrested. We live in a surveillance state, an arrest now does not carry the same consequences as arrests in ‘68. The state is violent & will escalate on you. You should avoid arrest if possible
When going out to protest, the goal shouldn’t be to get arrested. Do not run yourself into arrests. Do not just hand yourself over to the state.

I remember being in a DC meeting with Dem Beltway folks and they'd spent all this money on polls and said, "yes let's run this campaign with [extremely tepid message] it polls well"

And I said um but our job is to make them want more

And they looked at me like I had three heads
this is a good example of the attitude that has led democrats down the road to disaster. it rests on the belief that public opinion cannot be shaped or mobilized or moved, only reacted to

Gosh, I remember reporters trying to "find" us in the indie TTRPG scene already in the late 2000s.

One of the main features was their overall disappointment when they did!

Instead of stylish microcelebrities, they instead find nerdy-but-normal people who like sitting around convention tables.
