For added context, Indiana didn't recognize daylight savings time until 2006, and I was a full adult by then.

It might be linux-user heresy, but dual-booting is an option! I have a few pieces of hardware with windows only config software. After messing around with VMs for a few hours, I decided that it was just easier to setup a basic windows install for the few windows-only programs I still need.
