I agree with the position that we need the Social media platforms to regulate themselves - or if they don't, that we regulate them. Requiring proof of identity doesn't fix the problem - it just makes us more the product than service users.
I'm in the minority here, I know, but I don't think this move is the right thing to do about online safety (at least, as a first - and only - step).
