Remember a few weeks ago when Trump brought in a couple bulldozers and demolished about a third of the White House? That was weird.

“she flamed out and faded away” is such funny framing for a woman publishing an excerpt of her book in vanity fair, where she also works. I wish I could flame out and fade away so successfully
Vanity Fair's West Coast Editor Olivia Nuzzi was a star political correspondent until scandal led her into exile—and to a California up in flames.

In an excerpt from her book, ‘American Canto,’ she takes stock of scorched earth.

She flamed out and she faded away. 'Vanity Fair'’s West Coast Editor returns to the written word to survey scorched earth.

Nice to see Republicans so concerned about health care (when it’s John Fetterman’s)
Gift link:
Dave McCormick says John Fetterman will ‘probably’ leave hospital Saturday as GOP floods the Democrat with well wishes
Dave McCormick, Karoline Leavitt and Mehmet Oz were among those sending good vibes to the Democratic senator after he was hospitalized this week after a heart issue caused him to fall.

For journalism, a day of real highs and lows (you know the one I’m talking about). Grateful to this @reuters.com photog who bore witness to this awful scene.
Oh wow @reuters.com got the photo here:

It's gotta be frustrating for journalists scraping by and doing great work to go to NY Times dot com and read a puff piece written by a nepo baby that whitewashes a journalist who had sex with a source and has now parlayed that into a new book and a job at Vanity Fair

God forgive me, I read the Nuzzi profile. This is the correct takeaway.
It's so frustrating that there are so many good, hard-nosed, risk-taking journalists who plug away at their beat and uncover important stories whose name only a handful of people, mostly their peers, can recall — who are overshadowed by this horseshit.

Gosh, when you put it this way: 🧵
✅ he was extremely close friends with Epstein
✅ Epstein had like 11 ways to contact Trump
✅ Epstein sourced teens from maralago
✅ Epstein introduced Melania to Trump
✅ the DoJ combed evidence looking only for Trump and did a u-turn on releasing files
✅ Trump has been found guilty of sex crimes

Eight Senate Democrats flipped the Trump White House and the GOP from panicky infighting to confident gloating.

Congrats.

“People are blaming republicans for food prices and flight cancellations and health insurance costs and are furious about gilded ballrooms and Gatsby parties and the president is falling asleep on tv and is the most deeply unpopular president in history, time to cave” is a hell of an argument

More people voted in New York City’s election this year than they have in 50 years.

That’s a win for democracy, and a testament to @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social's inspiring campaign.

Congratulations to the next mayor of the greatest city in the world. 🗽

Anyway, Dick Cheney is a fossil fuel now. It's what he loved most. Besides killing.
I'll be skipping any obits that begin "Whatever you think of what he did as Vice President..." It's what you do when you think nobody can stop you that counts.

Lovely tribute to Pierre Robert. No matter how morning-zoo, shock-jocky rock radio got, his spirit was always warm and friendly, about the music and community. Have been a fan as long as I've lived in Philadelphia.

The last raise in the Pennsylvania minimum wage was in 2009 — to $7.25/hour.
Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

You know what day should be a national holiday in 2029?

THE DAY OF THE COMPLETE AND TOTAL BULLDOZING OF THE PRESIDENT DONALD J. TRUMP BALLROOM.

Not as quick and not as angry as we need, but it’s a start.
Trump’s tearing down the East Wing to build himself a $350M ballroom while Americans struggle to afford health care.

Senator Ruben Gallego went to the site of the Trump teardown.
