Every CDC-er knows EVERY public post gets layers of review — annoying but protects scientific rigor.

Until now.

DOGE’s eager admin lapdogs — like the 20-something who literally lives at Roybal — are rewriting CDC sites w/ dangerous nonsense.

No real CDCers approved it. But the public can’t tell.🫠

I'm thrilled that @electricliterature.com has published this gorgeous story from the anthology WE WILL RISE AGAIN, which I co-edited with @older.bsky.social and @drkarenlord.bsky.social ... you can pre-order the anthology now, or pick it up at your local bookstore after it drops on 12/2!
Full warning: this story made me cry, because of how accurately and beautifully it peels back the layers of oppression, self-censorship, exile, community, rebuilding. A beautiful representative from the forthcoming anthology We Will Rise Again, out on Dec 2!

Ah, I have some amazing Tiptree award t-shirts that she created. She was very much appreciated by the Wiscon community and I always thought she was pretty cool when I encountered her there.
Sad to hear that Freddie Baer died earlier this week, of cancer.

I didn’t know her, but she was part of the #WisCon community, and she used to create art for the Tiptree Award (now the Otherwise Award); for example, see (www.lulu.com/shop/freddie...).

HOLY SHIT. They found the genes for fibromyalgia - and it's *not* autoimmune, it's the central nervous system. It's very cool to see some progress made on the thing that's ruined my life since late teenage years!

'Additionally, certain risk loci overlapped with long covid (BPTF) and ME/CFS (OLFM4, RABGAP1L/GPR52), two poorly characterised disorders, albeit with different lead variants.'
