Say yes to beans!

Gotta order today though, or your new year will be COMPLETELY CURSED.

I don't make the rules.
If you want the crowder beans (like black eyed peas) by new years basically today is your last chance to order and even then I can’t promise. I’ll ship them tomorrow but then it’s in the hands of the USPS

I also only have around 20 of these left, so they’ll sell out soon too

Western Massachusetts friends, there is a cluster of pertussis cases in the Northampton school. If you have been thinking you need a booster (many of us in our 50s do), now is the time. You don’t need to be tested to see if immunity has waned—you can just get one at CVS, etc.

Cass Neary still grabbing people by the collar, pickpocketing their meds at the same time:

"Neary is my favorite type of protagonist, which is to say, she’s a dubious one. She’s a liar and a thief, a traumatized alcoholic with a deeply destructive streak."

In just the past month, #MedicareForAll has gained 7 new cosponsors, bringing us to 17 in the Senate and 111 in the House.

More members of Congress are joining us to recognize that the only solution to our health care crisis is Medicare for All. Our movement is growing!

And just like that, SFWA capitulates. Keep fighting. It works.
December 19, 2025 at 9:45 PM
I feel strongly enough to consider leaving SFWA. I’ve been a member for ~20 years as, besides anything else, I think the medical fund and contracts/grief committees are important.

LLMs are based on stolen work used without payment or permission—the literal antithesis of SFWA’s raison d’être.
I emailed @sfwa.org (and encourage all members to do so) that I would prefer that "Works that used LLMs at any point during the writing process” not be eligible for the Nebula ballot.
Another Nebula Awards nomination cycle is in full swing, and the addition of poetry and comics, along with the presence of LLMs in industry, required careful consideration.

Read on, and vote well!

We trust our voters & look forward to what they choose to celebrate.

My novel Lessons in Magic and Disaster is just $2.99 in all e-book formats today. (Kindle, Kobo, Nook, etc)

This is the book of my heart. It's a queer mother-daughter story about healing and forgiveness. It's got 18th century lit, riot grrls, and filthy weird magic.
