My hot take about the “students cannot read whole novels / watch whole films / etc.” is that they can learn to do it. None of us are born with attention spans suited for long media. It is a learned skill and can be developed with practice.

Co-signed, both because it's important to uphold Charter rights for all people, and because if the provinces are going to start using the Notwithstanding Clause to abrogate rights then the Federal government needs to get some precedent for the power to dismiss that kind of legislation.

This essay by the author of a recent well-reviewed book about Tolkien starts modestly and then stabs you with a Morgul-blade halfway through, where you are pinioned by a twist in the telling. You may never recover. www.nytimes.com/2025/12/19/o...

us older generations like to characterize gen z and younger as having attention span problems cause they're on phones/tablets all the time, but there's a pretty strong case to be made that us on our phones are the real problem

Alright! Let's actually talk about this waterfall thing. It is an amazing showcase of many things that I adore from late 90s/early 2000s graphics.
I am replicating this in Blender through mere observation, so some things might not be fully accurate to the mind-boggling effects of the PS1.

Writers should internalize Lao Tzu's lesson about how the emptiness at the center of a wheel is what makes it useful, and how a pot is valuable because of where the clay *isn't*. Corporate geek culture has warped us into thinking that negative spaces are flaws that need to be fixed.
Can't stress this enough: nobody fucking cares what he was up to

The Get Loud TTRPG Bundle went live yesterday. It's at over $2,500 in sales, which means over $100 going into the pockets of each contributor.

I'll let the other folks say what it means to them but that's my utilities for a month paid for.

And we just started.
