Most people don’t know moving house can void their Shared Care Agreement.

They find out only when their new GP refuses to prescribe, leaving them abruptly without medication or support.

It isn’t patient error, it’s system failure.

yes, everyone has to make complicated decisions about what information to disclose to various services for a variety of reasons. reducing this to "all these reckless idiots hand out their details to everyone at random" is cynical and is not really an honest engagement with the problem

This is a vital message: one of the larger reasons BlueSky is refreshingly free of alt-right shitlords is because in the early days we made a gentleperson’s agreement to starve these fuckos out and it worked. No likes, no quotes, no engagement. They got bored and left. Please keep the Old Ways.
Vice-President JD Vance confirms he has joined BlueSky.

I really do hate the usage of the word "stock" to describe the number of fish/whales etc in the sea. It makes it sound as though they just sit on a supermarket shelf until we decide we want them. They are essential & beautiful parts of an ecosystem, not spare parts that need a human to have purpose!

For me, the one that has been most meaningful is not letting fatphobia from others slide.

My mom and sister are both thin, and my mom (and dad) has done diet culture garbage for decades. My sister is amazing about not letting them say shit in front of me or (much more importantly!) her kids.
Hey pals! I got a request from a lovely reader (hi Danene!) looking for some guidance and thought I’d crowdsource some answers from fellow fats.

Fellow fats: what are the most meaningful ways (big or small) that non-fat friends have shown up for you?

If more people recognized that they are in fact disabled, our conversations around disability would be entirely different. We talk a lot about how disability can happen to anyone at any time, but we don't talk enough about how stigma means many people don't acknowledge their existing disability.
People with glasses and contacts have to realize that we have a disability that just happens to be highly accommodated for in modern society and that accommodation is the only reason why poor eyesight is not considered a disability.

Is it fun? Absolutely not! Is it better for your mental health than subjecting yourself to the nonstop river of doom that's trying to drown you in hopelessness on social media? It sure is! And you have a slightly cleaner home when you're done! Win/win!

I'm not a book author, so I'm just here to boost Blue Machine - I really loved it, particularly as an audio book read by Dr Czerski herself

If you feel guilty about stepping away from the news, make the last site you go to before putting the phone down the homepage of a local food pantry. Donate a couple of bucks, whatever you can spare. That will make an immediate, tangible difference in the lives of real people in your community.
It’s OK—good, even!—to step away from the onslaught of panic-inducing news and focus on your own little world for a bit.

If you need to, put the phone down. Shut the laptop. Put on a good playlist and channel your energy into your to-do list. Do the dishes. Scrub the bathroom. Fold some laundry.
