Yes, I had a long thread on Twitter a few years back - I love their approach, really keeps the author’s feet on the ground!

Gollancz had a real habit of slightly undercutting their authors with their blurbs, maybe they were just trying to keep their feet on the ground.

Thanks Andrew!

Confusing, but that's how he's credited on the film

Saw this poster online for a streaming version of the 1930 Three Stooges comedy Soup To Nuts, which is trying very hard to sell it as an early 00's campus gross-out comedy, maybe co-starring Seann William Scott

Yeah, it's brilliant.

That's funny - I was thinking while I was writing it that this might be the first one that gets a sequel! Will have to see what AC pitches me over the next couple of weeks.

I agree, Cooper is great. I can imagine a more nervous and tortured version with Jimmy Stewart in it, but I think it'd feel like a different film.

Man Of The West also has some brilliant widescreen cinematography - some great compositions throughout

Both of these were great - TNS has a terrific tortured Jimmy Stewart performance while MOTW is a kind of ghost story which sees Gary Cooper haunted by the violence he committed as a younger man, which threatens to take possession of him once again. Fantastic stuff.
Tonight's viewing - another Anthony Mann double

Raw Deal is great! Really enjoyed Winchester '73 too.

I've written a brand new Adrian Chills story (short horror stories directly inspired by the Guardian columns of Adrian Chiles.)

This is #46 and it's called 'Magic'.

Both on Channel 4 at the moment if you need some unhinged James Stewart in your life. I do.
Tonight's viewing - this absolutely stellar double-bill of James Stewart-on-the-vengeance-trail Anthony Mann Westerns.

Yeah I saw they were both up on Channel 4 and I don't think I'd ever seen Man From Laramie. Both terrific films - Stewart is great in them.
