Val Broeksmit was an FBI informant who tried to entrap me and frame me as Phineas Fisher. Along the way, he tried to hack and inform on his enemies, journalists and Epstein.

This is his story.
Val Broeksmit: A Comically Tragic Spy
Val Broeksmit was a source for and antagonist of the FBI, Congress, FusionGPS, The New York Times, DDoSecrets, and many other journalists.

Hello World,

You could check the context for this post, or you could enjoy it in its purest, rawest, uncut form.

Yours in insomnia,
Emma

P.S. Abolish ICE
are you saying we should be sending ICE gummi bears that make you poop yourself and huge barrels of lube because that was very, very funny at Malheur

Just heard re: some ICE agents who raided a Chicago taqueria, then went back to the same taqueria for lunch the following week and got confused when the owner kicked them out, and I realized "jesus these doofuses really do believe we're all living in a video game where the NPCs have no memory"

Wait uh if you watch through to the end of the clip THEY TRIED TO BUY TACOS FROM A SHOP WHERE THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY KIDNAPPED A WORKER, WHO IS STILL DETAINED
I’m still struggling with the fact that ICE “brown shirts” went to a taco shop and thought they would get served.

F that!

This framing saddens me because it totally erases survivors who are sex worker rights activists. The “Equality Model” promoted by this org is the dangerous Nordic Model—deportation of undocumented SWers, coerced legal testimony from SWers, prohibition of SW safety resources, & surveillance of SWers.

Supporting the Epstein survivors is important, but please don’t support World Without Exploitation. They advocate for policies that are really harmful to sex workers, like the Nordic Model, which puts sex workers at greater risk of violence and poverty by criminalizing their clients.
NEW: Epstein survivors release the most powerful PSA I have ever seen.

Make this go viral so every member of the House of Representatives sees it.

/2 I mean, my lede made my point pretty explicitly —. That saying “the system could never be this incompetent or indifferent” is just wrong — but we’re talking about agitated subnormals, not agitated rocket scientists.

Got a case now where they refused to give a pretrial detainee his insulin until he fell into diabetic ketoacidosis and died.
Every few months some agitated weirdo gets upset at me over the Atlantic post I did about how the prison system ROUTINELY engages in unimaginable abuse and lets people kill themselves, because they read it as “THERE’S NO WAY EPSTEIN WAS MURDERED”

The Cyber Police Department of Ukraine sent this email to me, @zackwhittaker.com, and some other cyber journalists.

Basically, it seems they are asking for help going after hackers expecting journalists to share information we would never share with law enforcement. Nope, this is not how it works.

Any recommendations for historical studies of the **anticipated** development (and hypothetical subsequent consequences) of technology/the internet - and how reality has diverged?

I'm thinking of things like the cybernetic optimism of the late '80s and '90s, but I'm sure it goes deeper than that.

GenAI companies are always like “HACKERS from CHINA and RUSSIA are using our AI to do incredible HACKING because our AI is so advanced but don’t worry we stopped them and also we won’t be giving any more details at this time just know our product is DANGEROUS and SEXY, like James Bond”
