I used to think that my feelings on games looking more unique when I was a kid was mostly nostalgia. Turns out I was just right all along. This is a video about that.
Yes, games really WERE cooler years ago

Science will often take you to unexpected and delightful places. In this study, researchers hypothesized that riders in a crowded subway car would be more likely to offer their seat to a pregnant person if there were someone in the subway car dressed as Batman 🧪🦇

NYT: "It seems like after people used Garry's Mod to bypass age restrictions earlier this year photo based age guessing isn't gonna cut it"

David Roblox: "Oh no don't worry, we're gonna surveil the shit out of your kids. We're gonna be taking photos & telemetry of your kids all the time."

Breaking character: I am open to the idea the media's coverage of Biden's age and mental acuity was fair or perhaps not even tough enough. But the fact that it was so much tougher than the coverage of Trump's (more severe) mental decline is damning and I can't see how anyone could argue otherwise.
NYT isn’t worth reading because they are in the bag for Trump

Tired: Which movie would be best if every actor save one was replaced by Muppets?

Wired: Which h*r character would be the funniest to leave Unjoined in a Pluribus scenario?
I haven't seen Pluribus, my understanding is that there is an actual thing called the Pluribus? This is great because that really helps me imagine Coach Z yelling "its dah Pluribus, strongbayud!!!" no spoilers please

I feel like the last couple decades of "is representation good or not?" discourse missed more important questions of "how fragile is representation?", "what do we do when multiple industries eliminate it as an intentional move against us?" and "how can we sustain queer artists when shit goes south?"
"According to the report, [...]during the 2024-25 television season, queer characters increased across platforms by 4%, bringing the total to 489. However, the Thursday report found that 41% of those characters will not return." www.thewrap.com/glaad-where-...

I'll do this as a list of talking points.

- Trans people are real. Meaning that some people are not strictly within the gender binary and we cannot alter their sense of self via coercion or counseling.

This is just ground truth. Without that we can't move forward.
