Just days after Trump returned to the White House, Instagram is censoring abortion content. This is what Aid Access' account looks like right now - posts about how to get abortion medication has been blurred out.

The first chart here are SARS-CoV-2 wastewater levels from 2022 to present prior to baseline normalization

The second chart is the same thing but just for 2024

The third is a (predicted) chart for 2025 assuming wastewater levels in 2025 are similar to 2024

Much less scary, eh?

That's the intent

Here we go, something I've been drafting for a long, long time: how the US-centric approach to video games and their history / culture basically gaslights us who come from other realities:

The Famicom catalog is complete. It's time to start a new cataloging project and it's the Famicom's rival system: the PC Engine. It's a game system built on spite for Nintendo that became the rival platform.

Special shoutout to Eno, my favorite neuro-divergent icon from the game, going from left-field references that'd make me pause and laugh before translating her lines for friends to hyper-specific knowledge of the Stanford Prison Experiments a Japanese middle schooler probably wouldn't normally know

Good news, the picture is now clear enough to read QR codes (though may still require the user to sync it up themselves, which would be fun for ARG puzzles!)

Bad news for this example...

I kid you not, @itch.io has been taken down by Funko of "Funko Pop" because they use some trash "AI Powered" Brand Protection Software called Brand Shield that created some bogus Phishing report to our registrar, iwantmyname, who ignored our response and just disabled the domain

If sharing AI generated "art" is bad because it's (amongst other things) just grabbing things actual people have spent time/skill creating and then spewing it out w/o credit or compensation then ~maybe~ that same thought should apply to "aesthetic" accounts w/other people's photos/screenshots too?

Storytime.

In 2005, my mom died from cancer, but the real cause was the actions taken by an insurance company 12 years earlier. What happened to her was evil, hard to identify or fight, and hidden from the public by legal mechanisms. Because of that, I have no idea how often it has happened.

Love this story. Collector had found a strange, unknown Atari game, and tracks it down to its programmer - who reveals it was a one-off present she had made for a relative. Some fun stories about early game dev in general, like having to work within 128 bytes(!) of RAM.
