You know who Bomberman is, right? Well, there have been three times in the 21st century where they tried to change Bomberman into something completely different and restart the franchise. None of them worked, but all for very different reasons.

I feel like my viewers are even more hostile to Bombergirl than I was.
I think the footage of the cartoon I used was from Jetters which I put together with the "Bomberman is Hudson's mascot" era. I was looking for visual reinterpretations.

Loosely, it's the team around 1981, though the Storm drawing is 84 or 85. By the time NES X-Men came around she hadn't had the mohawk for years.

Battle Fantasia. It's a fighting game with a fantasy RPG theme. It's honestly not *that* bad, but it's kind of clunky.

Honestly, I'm being kind of mean to it. I didn't care for it, but I wanted a fighting game on the shelf and that was the first one I could grab that I'd say had real problems.

I've tried playing Skyrim a few times and never did the quest they give you after you leave the tutorial.

I took one look at RetroArch and went, "Why is this burying everything I need to access and configure behind the worst interface ever?" and immediately went back to a pile of emulators because while they might have bad, bespoke interfaces for each of them, they're at least understandable.

Yeah, the FDS release seems to have made Hudson re-evaluate Bomberman as a concept since there's just enough time after that occurred to account for the development of Bomber Boy and Bomberman (PCE).

From the known versions, one kid replaced Brocken with Ninjaman.
Hilariously, the contest rules didn't specify that it had to be a Kinnikuman character, so one kid replaced Kinnikuman with the main character from Bebop High School.
