I like obscure old video games and make a lot of videos about them. I've documented all of the Nintendo Famicom library and I'm currently working on the PC Engine.

Hello, new followers!

My magnum opus is Famidaily, a complete catalog of the Famicom library across 1065 episodes. Every cartridge is broken down with information putting it in context, how to play it, and what kind of response it got.

I was just reminded of the time a mobile game dev created a prototype multiplayer game that destroyed the interpersonal relationships in their office. Then when they described the game to the public, people who play board games went, "You re-invented Diplomacy."

Bullet Proof Software apparently gave out floppy disks that looked like this as contest prizes. They were blank floppies, though. No special game or anything like that on them.

Probably should have saved this for Random Game Saturday, but it's too cool not to share. This is a legit copy of King of Dragon Pass. When the designer ran out of printed copies and you ordered one from them, they burned you a copy and mailed it.

I'm going through spindles of old CD-Rs and DVD±Rs from the storeroom and seeing if there's anything worth keeping. I'm tossing out so much stuff acquired on the high seas, then burned to disk...

Paleontology is obviously the most pure of all the sciences because the entire field is built on and centered around the idea of how cool those extinct animals were.

Alien Crush took pinball video games to a whole new level, so how do you follow that up? Well, you join the forces of darkness for Devil Crash and outdo it.

If anyone needed to confirm my nerd bona fides, I finished getting all of these onto my media server.

For my PC Engine chronology, I have finally reached the first Turbografx exclusive game: no Japanese release.

I think the company that developed it is more interesting than the game...

Do you remember where you were when you heard the news that Bob the Goon was Joker's henchman?

I started playing Midnight Suns and I love it when I'm playing the tactical combat but damn does the writing stink between the bad copy of the already annoying MCU snark from every character and how obviously every scene was stitched together from multiple drafts with different plots.

The Bravoman arcade game had major technical problems, but when Namco brought it to the PC Engine, they cleaned that up and made one of the quirkier action games on the system.

Sometimesnyou just have to break out a cool game for Random Game Saturday like Thief, the stealth game that makes other stealth games look bad.

Ah, now I truly am an influencer.
@randomstranger.bsky.social I just saw a comment on someone else’s video for a mahjong video game referencing your description of mahjong:

Rastan Saga II for the PC Engine was a fairly faithful port of Taito's arcade game.

Of course, that arcade game was notoriously awful, so...

Things I have figured out while cataloging the PC Engine: hardly anyone in 1990 understood the concept of levels in audio mixing.

I'm rewatching Fringe and I forgot how sinister Walter was at the start. He's downright terrifying in this episode doing experimental brain surgery on someone who he tortured for decades through absurdly unethical chemical trials.

Also Observers all over the place.

I've heard Grand Theft Auto VI was relayed because Rockstar is shooting to beat Duke Nuken Forever's record.

I've been kicking around the idea of trying some streaming again after I wrap up my two bonus videos for the rest of the year. I'm thinking of doing it as challenges to beat games suggested by the audience, since that will give things a hook and I could edit the stream down afterward...

"I come across as kind of angry about baseball video games here. Should I delete that chunk from the video?

"Nah, that's what people come for! Descriptions of mahjong, rage at sugoroku, and annoyance at baseball!"

I rode in a Tesla for the first time today.

That might be the shittiest car I've ever been in even if I wasn't well aware of all of the safety, design, and build issues.
