ZONE (yes, that ZONE) ported Daytona USA to VRChat! I take a look at this love letter to SEGA fans — and ZONE talks with me about the long journey of making this happen.

ZONE fills VRChat with a port of Daytona USA
I am familiar with the work of ZONE-SAMA. This artist is a pioneer of 2000’s internet culture, having graced flash animation sites with all time classics such as Reiko: Biker Girl, Ankhazone …

Unbeknownst to pretty much everyone, the first-person shooter "Vigilant Paradise" was released for Saturn in November 2025; AFAIK the developer never teased this on SegaXtreme or anywhere else so it's really quite astonishing! It's currently on sale for $7 on itch.io

Sega Saturn alert!! Someone casually spent five years making a complete first-person shooter for the Saturn and basically shadowdropped the thing more than a month ago. The Saturn scene is just now finding out about it. Looks incredible!!

it’s stupid when gamers say gaming is expensive, yet ignore ROM hacks. It’s like saying you’re hungry when there’s a fan translation of Linkle Liver Story on the ground outside

Adding to the choir of those singing the praises, you probably already saw this post swing by your feed by now. Just coming in to say that I just watched this and it was extremely well put together. You should watch it too if you have not already.
Merry Christmas! If you'd like to spend 45 minutes celebrating video game history with me, we're about to debut The Untold Story of the Nintendo Entertainment System. I worked on his ALL YEAR, and I genuinely think it will reshape how we all think about the system. www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJvp...

It’s why we don’t believe in 1:1 comparisons between games, books, movies, etc. The real answer is that you should read more, play more, watch more, listen to more in general. For us, one of our great joys is experiencing as much as we can, across all mediums, in the short life we have.

Quick update on the video: First off, I would like to once again apologize for how long it is taking me to get this done. I am still in the video editing phase. In tandem, I am dealing with new material coming my way. Very happy with how it's turning out! Goal is to get this done sometime in March.

I say this with zero irony: if you are even tangentially a part of a retro video game community, it is your civic duty to push back against this company and shun anyone who doesn't. This is fascism tapping gently at the door and as soon as you let it in, it's going to invite its friends.

Alright. Pretty sure I’m more than halfway through this game now.

Taylor Swift would be a whole lot better if I couldn’t understand English. Likewise, Metroid Prime 4 would be a whole lot better if I were not a Metroid fan.

You do not have to kill the dogs in Prime 4. If you clonk them with a single charge shot, they go back into the outer circle. You can do this until the following cutscene plays.
