When you raise Jim Crow as an authoritarian system all the caveats come flying about
My favorite armchair comment is Americans don‘t understand authoritarianism, because so many of you don’t count Black people as Americans. Learn the history or shut up.

Lately, I’ve realized that it’s hard to communicate the gravity of what’s happening in science right now if you’re not familiar with what the NIH does and the role it plays in funding research and training the next generation of scientists. This piece is my attempt to do just that. Check it out: 🧪
In our newest piece, we take a deep dive into how the NIH works, the effects of recent executive orders and cuts to funding, and what we stand to lose if current political interference remains unchallenged. Read it here: open.substack.com/pub/isabella...
What It Would Mean To Lose the National Institutes of Health
In this piece, we provide readers with an in-depth explainer of what the NIH does and how its mission is being threatened by current political interference.

🧵🧪🏆🥇We've done it! We've raised atmospheric CO₂ concentrations to the point where, for the first time in human history, they have exceeded 430 ppm every day for a full week. It had become fairly certain that we'd reach this landmark sometime this month, but even so it's a fairly sobering moment.

Tonight an unbelievable **34,000 people** gathered for our Denver rally to take on billionaires and win our country back.

This was the largest political gathering in Denver since Obama in 2008.

Also bigger than the 2024 DNC.

And the largest ever rally in Bernie’s career (and obviously, mine too).

SOMERSET, England — Steart Marshes, in southwest England, may not be the most picturesque nature reserve in the British Isles, but it is undoubtedly one of the most fascinating. Just over a decade ago...

Rewilding projects don't have to be done on a large scale. Small spaces such as gardens can also be made wilder to benefit nature - and simple actions, like leaving some grass to grow long, can really boost biodiversity.

This is a result of Trump’s executive order to combat DEI.
