This morning, the Trump Administration’s Department of War gave me an ultimatum: call up your troops, or we will. It is absolutely outrageous and un-American to demand a Governor send military troops within our own borders and against our will.

All of this, but also in the entire state of Kentucky there are 3600 people mining coal. Not companies, people. To put that in perspective, that wouldn't even fill half of the lower bowl of Rupp Arena.
as someone who lives in a coal mining state i cannot imagine why anyone thinks it should be brought back or that it would solve anything. one, working in one is fucking terrible and will either kill you on the job or most assuredly lead to disease. and two, you’re not bringing back THE TOWNS.

But they want us to think they do.

absolutely repugnant, gutfeld completely dismisses the assassination of melissa hortman, calls it a "bull shit" example of political violence

This tactic - pressuring corporations financially until they put a regime friendly voice in charge - is exactly how Orbán took over the free press in Hungary
Lord save us:

This is so embarrassingly transparent.
The deputy attorney general -- President Trump's former personal lawyer -- also asked Maxwell about a Wall Street Journal article saying Trump had contributed a bawdy page to Jeffrey Epstein's 50th birthday book.

Not even remotely true. According to the Fed, the median and average sales prices for a home peaked in mid-2022 and have been slowly falling — despite several million migrants arriving. But due to high interest rates, the Home Price Index is still slowly rising.

Creating a "national police force" was for decades a right-wing bogeyman, the feared unconstitutional federal usurpation of states' rights, the very thing "support your *local* police" and fetishizing elected sheriffs was all about.

There’s no longer any pretense this has anything to do with crime (there are cities or parts of cities in SC and Ohio that have higher crime rates than DC — send the troops there!). This is about establishing a precedent for Trump seizing control of the nation’s capital when he wants to.
WASHINGTON (AP) — South Carolina, Ohio also sending National Guard troops to DC in further escalation of federal intervention in Dem city.

Declaring a fake emergency as an excuse to deploy the military to police civilians is one of the most canonical examples of authoritarian takeovers.

Overseas, people see clearly what Trump is doing. Here in America most people — especially those with power or influence — are in denial.

It's simply amazing to me that the U.S. spent 70 years (1945-2015) constructing a post-WW2 military, economic, and social world order to its liking, only to turn around and decide it was actually the victim of this order the entire time.

Why is Trump asking for grand jury testimony?

1. Because he knows it’s unlikely to be released and then he can blame the judge

2. Because that testimony is restricted to charges against Epstein and Maxwell and is unlikely to name clients

3. Because it generates delay and confusion.

They had a liveblog and story covering the speech. They had a reporter their in Iowa. They just didn't mention it *at all*

A stunning, baffling choice.
So the Times didn’t even cover the “Shylocks” thing at all? Like it’s not only not on the front page, it doesn’t appear to be in the paper anywhere, unless I’m missing something?? Truly a stunning choice. I don’t get it.

It's a lie.

We in the U.S. should be alarmed.
