Contrary to popular belief, more time on social media doesn't make kids anxious or depressed: kids who are already anxious or depressed spend more time on social media, because it's where they find support, community, and help from their peers.

Someone who bought a frog facts advent calendar for a friend's kid last year just emailed me.

Apparently that kid got a different advent calendar this year, and when he opened it he said, “These are HORRIBLE! They’re not teaching me anything about frogs!”

This kid gets it.

Prometheus stole fire from the gods to give to the people.

Techbros, through AI, are stealing fire from the people and using it to warm themselves.

What precious fucking irony that is.

Short fiction is fun, inspiring, and soul-nourishing, but the current economic environment makes it so hard to publish. Uncanny has been doing stellar work, and you should back them.

A fun reminder that a loss of 60,000 jobs in and around academia is ~50% more than all coal mining jobs in the entire country.
The US could see a 30-40% decline in new international student enrollment, resulting in nearly $7 billion in lost revenue and more than 60,000 fewer American jobs. https://www.nafsa.org/fall-2025-international-student-enrollment-outlook-and-economic-impact

Absolutely true, and certain chains have worse franchise agreements than others. Subway and McDonald’s are notoriously bad
Here's the cruel rub - most restaurants in the USA are independently owned, and that's the experience employees have, but from a customer POV they're chains! Because franchising is the most successful scam ever devised to steal workers' rights without even benefitting small business owners.
Restaurants are in fact one of the businesses statistically *least* likely to be owned by a giant evil corporation

I sadly didn't get to go, but there is a DISGUSTING FOOD MUSEUM in Malmo, Sweden. I *did* get to go to the toy museum in Stockholm and that was full of haunted, cursed toys from years past, and it was delightfully weird.

This is just a sampling of the photos I took there:

They’re so jealous you can draw.
They’re so jealous you can make music.

They have all the money in the world, but they’ve been driven insane because they don’t have your joy.
Writers should never modify their own prose as a reaction to what stupid fucking generative AI is doing -- that shit stole from us, and it stole poorly, incompletely, and has none of our magic and zero of our humanity, our experience, our wonder and fear, and it never ever will. Fuck AI. You do you.
