I <3 DC! I want us to become the 51st state and also have all the bike lanes!

And if insurrection isn’t enough to disqualify someone from office by impeachment and conviction, then all other democratic institutions and processes exist more due to whim and inertia than as functional components within a constitutional system.

This government should not be funded! #shutitdown
Naked children torn from their mothers and tossed into vans.

U.S. citizens detained for hours in zip ties.

Doors kicked in and belongings stolen or destroyed.

This is the reality of Trump’s deportation agenda.

It was always about cruelty.
Massive immigration raid on Chicago apartment building leaves residents reeling: 'I feel defeated'

I say this every time something of note happens in DC and inevitably someone gets mad at me:

It’s not just “where the government is.” It’s a real place with real people living in it. Reducing it to some playground of the elite and powerful is inaccurate and often racist
the dc metro area has a heart and a soul and it beats like so many others but the rest of this country treats us like our lives are just some background character for the Real Actors that are Politicians for some reason.

tell that to the families living in wheaton when this comes to them.

Obama? Gang of what? Or is that like some new word for book club?
REPORTER: Gabbard has submitted a criminal referral. Who should the DOJ target?

TRUMP: It would be President Obama. And Biden was there with him ... the leader of the gang was Obama. Barack Hussein Obama. He's guilty. This is treason.

Had a terrific time at the Arlington County #NoKings protest with @brendanamartin.bsky.social and @echo4dc.bsky.social and thousands of other good people. We stretched from the Potomac to Falls Church. As they said in the civil rights era after marches, our feet are tired but our souls are rested.

Tear gas can cause long-term health consequences by making people more susceptible to contracting respiratory illnesses, including COVID.

The chemical agent can also hurt people inside their homes if it seeps into residential neighborhoods. What you need to know (published 2020):
Tear Gas Is Way More Dangerous Than Police Let On
In the middle of a respiratory pandemic, law enforcement agencies have used tear gas in especially dangerous ways. The chemical agent also seeps into homes, contaminates food, furniture, skin and…

DC folks: be wary of the “ICE out of DC” protest PSL is organizing in the city tonight.

It is not supported by local immigrant justice groups.

Many local immigrants and immigrant justice groups have asked them to change the location because it puts the Latino community at risk. They said no.

the hong kong protestors used the phrase "do not split" to mean that the radical protest and peaceful protest arms of the movement should refuse to criticize each other.

This is what it looks like when an arm of the federal gov’t, due to a failure to uphold due process & principles of justice, becomes illegitimate.

I don’t think our elected leaders get that. They’re lecturing people to stay off the highway when ICE is beating the shit out of anyone they want to…

It looks like the National Park Service paid Arcus Group $71,600 to install the fencing at Dupont Circle: www.highergov.com/contract/140...

It stayed up for less than 24 hours — in large part because people visibly and vocally rejected it, and demanded it come down.

NEW: Unbelievable. A seemingly endless line of tanks & other military vehicles arrive in DC ahead of next week's parade.

They departed Texas 5 days ago.

What a colossal waste of time, money & military resources. All for a President who has shown zero respect for service personnel.

For people who live here, shutting down Dupont Circle for “safety” reasons would be like shutting down the Beltway to prevent car accidents — absurd, disruptive, and completely out of step with our community.

Now that a judge ordered the return of the $500m dollar building that MPD helped steal, do we get an apology from my CM, Brooke Pinto, for calling the thieves “new leadership”? Or a hearing on how MPD helped steal a building? Will MPD help return the building? #USIP @maustermuhle.bsky.social
Today I asked D.C. Councilmember Brooke Pinto about MPD’s role at the U.S. Institute of Peace yesterday evening, and she said police followed their “usual protocols” for claims of unlawful entry. But she says she is “reviewing the circumstances” around the call.

Diplomats? What diplomats?
If you’re wondering how future American diplomats will attempt to clean up the wreckage of this catastrophe, the joke may be on you. We may not have any more diplomats! The word is going out tonight that, for the second time this year, the Foreign Service Officer Test is being canceled.

Also known as death flights. This is exactly what happened under Pinochet and Videla. Both of whom were supported by the US or-at least in Argentina's case- Henry Kissinger.
1/4. On the White House’s theory, if they abduct you, get you on a helicopter, get to international waters, shoot you in the head, and drop your corpse into the ocean, that is legal, because it is the conduct of foreign affairs.
