I don’t spend ALL my time reading books. I also spend plenty of time browsing libraries and used book sales, reading book reviews, listening to podcasts about books, talking about books, and thinking about what book to read next. It’s really a diverse set of interests.
Woken up from my perfect Sunday afternoon nap by a Canada goose flyby. 😡 #canadianproblems

I’ve never watched a Hallmark movie, but I love randomly coming across Christmassy scenes in Winnipeg while they are being filmed. The best was when I passed by like 20 Santas milling around the Exchange District in springtime.
I am such a sucker for all those hallmark holiday movies, I will watch every one I come across.

I was proudly describing how I whipped up a delicious lentil sausage soup that used up most of the random leftovers in the fridge and the 13-yo helpfully cut in with, “you know, there’s an app that can do that.”

This could not be more accurate.
A not insignificant portion of the emotional labor of being a woman (in relationships or the workplace) involves figuring out a way to give instructions that are a) clear enough to prevent confusion or mistakes but b) not so minute and specific that the recipient feels micromanaged or infantilized.

Me: How’s the dishwasher repair going?
Husband: Really great if you are someone who likes to handwash dishes and also who doesn’t care about gouges in the cabinets.
Me: Alright then, I’ll leave you to it 😬😬😬

Oh no. I have a flight on Sunday morning and I have already entered “waiting mode”. Welp, I guess tomorrow is a write-off.

Got a pair of “Extreme” merino wool socks for each of my kids. The men’s and women’s versions should be identical other than size and colour options right? Nope, the women’s sock has a much thinner inside lining. Why????? Infuriating.

I’m obsessed with the Hamilton bus hijacker. It is so absurdly funny that the passengers didn’t all immediately exit once they realized he was a not a bus driver.

Man who took Hamilton bus on joy ride 'did a great job' driving, left no dings, say police | CBC News
He made several stops along the way, allowing passengers to get on and off, police say. He was then arrested.

Who wants to join my support group for Mennonite Tesla owners? There are dozens of us! Dozens!* Mennos who turned against principles of frugality and simplicity to be early adopters of clean energy in the name of climate justice, only to be stuck with most embarrassing car in the church parking lot.

It’s so embarrassing driving a car through downtown in rush hour. It’s almost comical how terrible it is. I hope my coworkers really appreciated the homemade cinnamon buns that necessitated the use of this inefficient giant metal/plastic box to ensure safe delivery.

Thank you Jakob and family for sharing your experience. This is absolutely horrific and should not be tolerated in our city. This is not an “oopsie”, it is active violence by design. Accountability is needed. Change is needed.
This shouldn’t happen. We don’t have to accept it.

This teeny tiny skiff of snow is making me way too excited for ski season, which is still likely at least a month away. I’m done with November weather.

Parenting hack: build a life that does not involve driving your children to school.
Instagram, you are sending me the wrong ads.

I love oats! But not this lifestyle.

Forced car dependency is such a bummer.

💯
To be clear.
I don’t agree with consulting anyone other than city planners / engineers who know what they’re talking about. Asking residents of the area to weigh in is a stall tactic. Cyclists are getting injured or killed and I’m supposed to care what Joe in a nearby apartment has to add?
No.
What a joke.
Do we need input from anyone else, while we’re at it? Maybe fly in some Amsterdam residents who live next to bike lanes, see what they think? Maybe a couple of New Yorkers while we’re at it, they’d be in a good mood right now.

We accidentally bought the World Series streaming package in French, which is a huge bonus for the teen who needs to work on his French listening comprehension for school. French homework and baseball game all in one.

I am mostly on board with boycotting travel to the USA, until I remember that I have only 3 more summers to do family road trips with my oldest, and some of his favourite places for family vacations are across the border. Not sure what do with that. Just makes me sad.

“Oh really? Didn’t notice” -me 💅 🚴‍♀️

Oh noooo. It’s Saturday afternoon and everyone has plans outside of the house except me and the cat. Whatever will we do?

I work part time, and often feel pressure to be very productive on my days off to justify the income sacrifice. But today I rearranged my bookshelf (twice), baked cookies, watched a stupid reality show, and read. I think it’s ok to just exist sometimes.

I went to a house showing today and caught myself gazing at the titles on the bookshelves multiple times. I am not able to convince my brain that my thoughts on the homeowners’ book collection are extremely irrelevant to the decision about buying a house.

I want to go get my mail because I haven’t checked in a few days, but I don’t want the neighbours to think I am ignorant of current events. This is so far the only disadvantage of a community mail box vs. home delivery that I have encountered. #CanadaPost
