Hey so “underage girls” are…children. The word you’re looking for is children. They’re not like, women-in-waiting or women-lite or whatever. They’re children. I think some of you are very uncomfortable with what that means for you but it is still true.

As all this disgusting Epstein shit starts surfacing more and more, I hope we don't lose sight of the fact that apparently every major media outlet knew everything and instead spent their time money and energy attacking the trans community.

BLANCHE: Apparently wealthy men wrote to complain about how hard it is to seduce teenage girls. I also had good taste at a tender age.
DOROTHY: Men are lizards.
ROSE: We had a teacher like that in St Olaf. Mister Lindberg. He had to leave after he fell down the same flight of stairs six times.

after all, who could expect audiences to suspend their disbelief or let go of what happened in a previous james bond film? the role having famously been played by the same man for the last sixty-plus years-- [hurried muttering from offstage] sorry, what? you said SEVEN men?
James Bond’s death in No Time to Die is causing a nightmare for the next film. Writers are stuck because Bond “was blown to pieces.”

Anthony Horowitz, author of three 007 novels, says:

“You can't have him wake up in shower and saying it was all a dream."

So I wrote two books. both are set in London, in winter, in 2021. One is an alternate future history, a sparse love story where a spad and civil servant work on Brexit together and fall unwillingly in love; the other is a sports anime, a post-pandemic f/f romance. here they both are:

answering a call where someone asks for my deadname, ranked:
years 1-3: -1000/10. i'd be awkward, they'd be awkward, it'd sour my whole day
years 3-5: 3/10. still awkward but i stopped caring
year 6+: 1000000/10. i say "wrong number brah" in my deepest voice, callers are baffled, never not hilarious

agreeing to make a terrible deal while your main opponent is quite literally being boo'd on live tv by an entire stadium of people is the kind of political instinct you'd normally only find in a 3 week old dead goldfish

If you aren't seeing skeets from some of your fave people, they might have been labeled "Rude" by bsky mods. Idk what they are thinking, I don't need a mommy to tell me who to be buddies with. Anyway, go into Settings > moderation > bluesky moderation (advanced) and turn Rude off.

in the US the # of active scuba divers (~2.5 mil) & trans people (~2.8 mil) are quite close. & if you shut off the propaganda tap, tbh i think the average voter cares about us roughly as much as they'd care about scuba divers? perhaps a bit mystified, but not looking to destroy any lives over it
whatever you think of Spanberger, the fact that her opponent ran a campaign based almost entirely on transphobia and is on track to eat shit in the biggest blowout the state has seen since 2009 is unambiguously a huge win
Earle-Sears ran what felt like 12 billion ads about how much she hated trans kids and I didn’t hear a single pundit say she should stick to real issues that affect real people.

well, it's happened. i've been caught by my mailman pacing around on my porch in a fluffy robe trying to work out a plot point. little did my child self know, when he watched the princess diaries, that he would grow up to become this comic relief side character named for cough syrup

A friend recently told me food banks don't often get or give out seasonings/spices, so when I went shopping for the community fridge today I picked up a couple containers of iodized salt. There was a woman taking things as I dropped mine off, so she helped me unpack and asked if she could have one.

This is my point again that the electorate has no idea of what's actually going on. Not in some ideological way, so you can argue whether it's good or not, just in a fact way.
Recently my brother in law explained what gerrymandering was to a coworker and they didn’t believe him because if that were really happening there would be riots in the street
This week I had someone tell me they're not worried about SNAP being cut off because "that's illegal, so it's impossible Trump could do that, so obviously it's just media sensationalism." Another person told me they weren't worried about ICE because "they can't detain you if you're legally here."

In late 80s I was social worker in Houston working in Verification unit for food stamps. Made unannounced home visits to verify applicants were qualified &had reported all income etc. Unit was dismantled because cost more to run than were recovering. Very little fraud. So many myths/lies about SNAP
As SNAP hangs in the balance for nearly 42 million people, misinformation is rampant. Myths of laziness and fraud persist when we should be talking about too low wages for workers, income inequality, and our threadbare social safety net.

In this guest post, Adam Chandler sorts fact from fiction:
SNAP benefits feed essential needs while still leaving many hungry for more
Journalist and author Adam Chandler explains what so much of the conversation about them gets wrong.

happy halloween to all but especially to the person who came to the door as an INCREDIBLY executed headless cryptid in a long coat, waited until offered candy, waved both hands in refusal, silently pointed to where their head should be like "can't. no head," & left. remarkable work. art. no notes
