Affordability is the Free Space on the Democrats' card and they should give it some attention, but the idea that they should put virtually all or even most of their emphasis on that is ludicrous.

Voters want action on other issues too, and that needs a real message.

Lots of ways to do this right, but "laser focused" on affordability alone is the way to do it wrong

There's a lot wrong here, but I just can't get over the Beltway belief that Democrats have to be "laser-focused" on affordability issues and affordability alone.
Just got this forwarded. Here are the talking points Schumer's team just emailed out to their allies TODAY - this afternoon.

The words "Minnesota" or "ICE" don't appear anywhere here.

If you could go back in time a couple years and show people the sort of garbage official DHS accounts now routinely post, you'd be accused of having concocted some slanderous over-the-top parody. Just a constant stream of nakedly white supremacist imagery and rhetoric.
DHS and Patriot Front post the same white supremacist lyrics.

It is hard to explain institutional collapse to voters; videos where state actors are clearly acting in abusive ways explain themselves.
This is incredible: 81% of working class and 83% of young voters have seen video of Renee Good's killing, per new data I've obtained. Majority of working class disapproves of ICE enforcement. ICE brutality is breaking through big time.

Some thoughts on this here:

This is a critical point. What we're really witnessing is the *collapse* of law and order, brought about by Trump's lawless thugs. I think a lot of ordinary people intuitively understand that this is what's happening.

Just so people outside of MN know - a lot of the US citizens getting “arrested” by ICE never get processed at Whipple. They are roughed up during the arrest and then often dropped off miles from where they were picked up. It means we don’t know the true scale of what ICE is doing based on ICE stats

It used to be that victims of murders in the U.S. would be smeared by InfoWars and Gateway Pundit as a way to fetishize guns and violence for ad dollars and supplement sales, with the added benefit of cozying up to far-right politicians. Now that work is done by CBS News.

Imagine if a Dem president said fuck you to a "hard working American" in a "blue collar job" in the "heart of America."

They'd have the impeachment papers filed with 24 hours, and the media circus would last for infinity.

My husband was on the 2 train and a guy started braying about how Renee Good deserved to die and her "lesbian lover" did too. My husband got pissed and said, "You're absolutely disgusting." "Fuck you!" the guy said. "Fuck YOU!" my husband said. The guy left.

See? We just need to talk to each other.
