1/ The US Government has quietly removed a memorial to Black soldiers who died in World War II from the Netherlands American Cemetery in Margraten, South Limburg. The move follows a complaint from the right-wing Heritage Foundation to the American Battle Monuments Commission. ⬇️

I really fear for pregnant people, and people who can become pregnant, in Texas right now. These kinds of sneaky, incremental changes to abortion law that may sound abstract and procedural are how the right slips this shit under the radar.
Great work from @sophienovack.bsky.social at @boltsmag.org!
“A Backdoor Effort” to Revive Texas’ Century-Old Abortion Law - Bolts
Abortion legislation moving through the Texas Legislature gives the attorney general power to enforce a pre-Roe law that could criminalize pregnant people.

Autistic people that are nonverbal and uninterested in interaction also deserve support, accessibility, and have the right to live. Period. Your ability to make money or contribute to society isn't what gives you the right to live comfortably. Existing does. Capitalist nonsense be damned.

Anti-trans policies don't just hurt trans people. They hurt anyone who doesn't fit neatly into a pink box or a blue one. And they hurt the rest of us by creating pressure to ensure that we always fit neatly into our box.

Today, the government detained another student for their speech.

Mohsen Mahdawi's attorneys have already filed a petition for his release and a Vermont judge ordered he not be moved out of state. As his fight continues, let us be clear: Dissent is not grounds for deportation.

You cannot separate right wing pronatalism from eugenics. They are too interconnected. There is this broad belief that eugenics was just about the sterilization of the “unfit” but this ignores the other side of the coin, that the “fit” should have more children. That’s what pronatalism is about

Every time someone asks why Gen X is so Trumpy, I remember our formative years, which were Reagan and “greed is good” and people claiming that AIDS was sent by God to kill gay people.

Truly a curse.

Kidnapping.

Capturing a person against their will without due process is called kidnapping.

Transporting them to another country without due process is called human trafficking.

A squalid extrajudicial prison for people found guilty of no crime is called a concentration camp.
stop calling things deportation just because they call it deportation.

-You cannot legally deport people without due process.

-You cannot legally deport citizens.

-They are defining down deportation to break the law.

A great read on how hard it is for the families (and fans) of African and Asian athletes to attend sporting events in Europe. www.dailymaverick.co.za/article/2024...
Olympics are far from being ‘wide open’ to Africans
Many Africans are denied access to sporting events, and athletes and performers are exposed to discrimination and racial abuse.
