Tonight, the President of the United States has launched an unconstitutional war of aggression, dooming another generation to spill their blood for oil, and lay waste to a sovereign nation.

I demand that Congress exercise its power, halt this conflict, and impeach this war criminal president.

I'm deeply sorry to the people of Venezuela. There is no opposition party in the United States to counter the fascist regime's actions and the population is easily demagogued.

Three million people live in Caracas, five million in the metro area. It's one of the densest cities in South America. Remember this in the morning when they try to spin this as anything other than a cold-blooded attack on a major civilian center.

Troops can object and refuse an order on conscientious grounds. They can infact say no. Having a spine is being more willing to face discharge or even military prison rather than “following orders”

No excuses.
The sheer cognitive dissonance it takes for USians to shriek "ACAB but the poor widdle imperial goons had no choice and respect the troops and and and" always belied such a rank, foul hypocrisy.

Cops are bad because they hurt USians, who are people, but soldiers hurt foreigners, so who cares.
'Cops are pigs but US soldiers are just poor little birthday blorbos who had no other choice but to join the genocide machine uwu'

Something americans need to understand is that your country has always been a colonial occupation war monster with an endless hunger for new resources and territories that not only has never shied away from mass death but in facts seems to seek it enthusiastically at every turn.

As a Ukrainian, if you ever cared about Russia's fascist illegal, illegitimate and unjust invasion of Ukraine, you should absolutely care about US's fascist illegal, illegitimate and unjust invasion of Venezuela. My solidarity and best wishes to all Venezuelans.

Marco Rubio is reportedly saying Maduro will stand trial in US courts.

Which means it’s now the US administration’s position that US courts can hold foreign presidents, but not the US president, accountable for crimes.

there are endless headlines about "grok apologizes" or "grok says it will be fixed" after it generated CSAM using pictures of minors and zero headlines about "grok being shut down" or "musk and xAI in big legal trouble" and I think something fundamental has broken here

People need to realize "Grok" isn't an entity anymore than Santa Clause or the tiger from frosted flakes is. It's a corporate mascot for a product that has no ability to take actions or "apologize."

It represents the will of its creators.
A real news outlet publishing the phrase "Grok apologized" should result in like a week-long timeout. Think about what you've done.

I actually think it's time to bring back the approach of curated lists and webrings from the early web again. Huge opportunity space for hand curation of information
In an age where AI slop websites have made entire categories of information difficult to find, what we need is Yahoo (or Dmoz): a human-curated list of reliable websites, organized by topic.

Yep, the level of vicious bigotry is extreme and we can cannot give an inch. There is a movement on the far right, supported by billionaires and powerful people in the White House, who want to ethnically cleanse Somalis from the U.S., and we must describe it as such and treat it as such.
This is the "testing the waters" phase of the playbook. The GOP ecosystem targets groups like Somalis, Haitians, and trans people specifically because they've calculated that the average person's passive disapproval won't ever turn into active defense. They're exploiting public apathy.
i'm really having a hard time getting past the "surely we can all agree that Somalis are worse than trash" thing. this feels new and very bad

In case you need more proof of how amazing Mercy is, a couple of weeks ago I (because I am a profound klutz) dropped my phone and the power port stopped working. Mercy diagnosed the problem as a damaged daughterboard.

So she ordered some parts and is now *building me a new one* to fix my phone.

The automated sexual abuse that Musk is doing right now should be national news. People should be going to prison for this shit. The logical conclusion to generative image creation and the internet, pure public automatic violence. Every Pizzagate fear just out in the open.

This is the thing I'll never understand. If I were as provably, publicly, chronically bad at my job as so many in the centrist pundit industrial complex are, I would simply pursue a different career.

How many times do you need to screw up a filling before you go "maybe I should not be a dentist"?
There are multiple national political commentators who earnestly predicted that Eric Adams would be a legitimate presidential candidate and a national figurehead of the Democratic party by now and those commentators still have careers somehow.

Disabled people are not expendable

We aren’t “less than” just because we don’t produce for capitalism

One’s worth should never be determined by their health, job or socio economic status

Disability is not a moral failing, and disabled people both need & deserve support

Less judging, more helping
